Lol.

I just don't understand where the garages are that charge this amount. Am I just incredibly lucky?

£80 for an alignment (even that is expensive for toe, which is all that can be adjusted on the front, and rear camber is quick).

quite a high rate for a 3 hour job...

I had standard SE suspension on my f30 30d not even x drive ,it was awful. Did a day trip with my partner up to Rossiters Kings Lynn to get the ac schnitzer springs and shocks. On the journey up I went through an area that had about 5 miles of fast very undulating road. I cannot put in words what the ride was like.Best description like Ice Road Truckers it was crazy we were both bouncing up and down on our seats like those drivers I am not exaggerating here. We were laughing our heads off we could not believe it. Had to keep speed down to deal with it

Coming back I had to find that same road ,stopped planted my foot and wow planted is the right word I could have cried with happiness at last the car rode as for me it was supposed to no more floating blangmange

...and now 5 years later I hit a pothole that caused £2500 of damage and the shocks and springs are being delivered from Germany which is holding up the insurance repair
Maybe I should post my F30 SE review! Yes, this is exactly what I found it to be like. In my review I likened it to a baby bouncer: mostly up and down, some side to side, and next to no damping. I really don't rate the front wheel drive opposition at all, having spent 3 months with an Audi A4 a few years ago, but SE is so bad the Audi might have actually been better. M Sport is fine, and Birds was wonderful. I've no doubt that the Schnitzer suspension you fitted is also excellent.

The 435d only comes in xdrive so unless you buy one with adaptive suspension, it won’t change anything.
Sorry, I forgot that. Personally then I'd just buy a 430d - you get the same super smooth 6 cylinder engine, good linear performance from the engine and you just lose some top end.

Apart from bragging rights I would agree , no real benefit .In sport my F30 330d is to be honest too fast for the South East and from what I have seen on forums there is quite a difference in mpg which sort of negates the benefit of diesel. Power/MPG ratio cannot think what would beat it, great engine.

The 430d M Sport is perhaps the sweet spot in the range - I am biased as I've just bought one.

Performance is more than adequate (0-60 in 5.5 seconds isn't slow), and economy is excellent. My first motorway trip of 140 miles at normal speeds averaged 55.2mpg - and the overall average so far including town driving is just under 50mpg.

Been driving my 66 plate 320D xdrive for nearly 3 years now . Like everyone says the ride is a bit floaty . I came out a Ford Focus st and it was a bit of a shock seeing I was now driving the ultimate driving machine??? But I’ve got used to it and now drive mostly motorway miles now and beginning to appreciate it more . What I found at first was I had to plan and think ahead before taking a corner fast and then start turning the wheel 10 mins before I got to said corner lol . Don’t think I’d change the springs but the crashing when hitting ruts and pot holes is truly shocking . Gonna replace the fronts with Goodyear RFs as they’ve been getting great reviews. Will see how that’s goes .

Ultimate Driving Machine is just marketing bullst. I'm on my 8th BMW over 20 years and love them, but as with any other product, I'd ignore the marketing.

Yes, the standard car is like a baby bouncer - side to side, up and down, it's all over the place. I felt car sick after my drive to work in one when I borrowed one for the day. With decent suspension though they're phenomenal. Not the ultimate driving machine (that's Lotus on the road, or a single seater on the track), but they are very, very good.

Yeh very good cars .. only car in 30 odd years of driving I’ve not wanted to change . Well maybe the 335 or 435 but more than happy with the 320D xdrive . Even the £500 major servicing bill I got hit with yesterday hasn’t swayed me to change:-)

Well the current situation has changed slightly, fitted normal (non runflat) Michelin PR4.
As on previous cars the ride is improved, it’s not as drastic an improvement as the 6 series was as I think the 4 series suspension may be better tuned for runflats but on broken surfaces it’s better and the car feels more agile.

It still has the vagueness that’s annoying me but I won’t be doing anything else to it in the short term due to a mixture of not using it and the oil industry being in a fairly scary state.
