Hi lads I've recently just bought a 2000 bmw 320 I e46 auto, and I'm just wondering if I should remap it. I know there's not lots of power gains and more responsive but I'm just wondering if it will bring me problems down the line? Its only on 81 thou and bought from my old man who really does take car of his cars. Any advice would be much appreciated cheers laaaads.

A remap could take out any flat spots and perhaps result in a small boost in power and economy but tbh I wouldn't bother.

Given the small increases, I think it's very unlikely it'd cause any issues (to gearbox etc). The only issue may be declaring to insurer and associated increase in premium.

Yeah i thought that, but I wouldnt be letting insurance know as I'm a careful driver lol. And it does drink petrol just want it more responsive and maybe a little more mpg. But as long as it won't bring problems to the gearbox I should be fine, thank you mate.

Honestly, don't bother. If you want something faster or more efficient buy a car that offers those attributes. You'll get maybe 10hp, is it worth it?

Also, word of advice, probably don't go on a public forum and state you're planning to invalidate your insurance. Its not difficult to check and you'll end up in a world of pain when you come to claim, if even you weren't at fault.

Dont waste your time any gains will be small frown possibly slight VANOS adjustments to slightly increase torque etc but thats about it

Don’t bother, you won’t gain anything.

Someone like Enda won't charge a lot, so....

I'd do it if it were less than £100. You'll iron out the flat spots and give it a bit more zing.
