Went to use the rear wash wipe on the E91...moved about 10 degrees and then decided not to proceed any further. Not ideal.

Feared the worst, however a good going over with WD40 and it seems to have helped unseize it. Normal function resumed.

Still waiting to hear back from a chap on eBay re a rear door (seems to be in correct colour + privacy glass).

Anyone know if there's any difference in terms of doors for pre LCI vs LCI? Looks like same part number on RealOEM. Any changes to the interior panels or electronic connectors maybe?

IIRC there's bee a small hole underneath it; spray WD40 in to there, liberally and let that dry off and then respray with lithium grease. That should keep it sorted nicely

^^^^^ What Dan said - WD40 is pretty good at getting things moving again but pretty crap at keeping them lubed long term.

Thanks for the tip guys, will get some lube action going!

Took my Z4M to my BMW Indy for a new cooling fan.

Apparently it's an M specific part - ouch!
What’s the issue? Mine stopped working and it turned out to be a cable was corroded. Even though I’d bought a 2nd hand fan for a small fortune, had to take a loss on it selling it on.
I had read about that issue, so I asked my Indy. He said a broken wire would have given a different fault code.

New fan was £460! eek

I remember a new aux fan for my old E36 was c£400 for a VDO one even from autodoc. I couldn't stomach paying that much for a fan, so got an aftermarket one which I think only lasted a year or so rolleyes

Took pictures of it.

Still thinking of selling, but makes no sense to do so.

Grass was burnt so not happy with the outcome.

If you’re going to you’ll likely get the best price now when the weather is improving.

True.

But what do you do when the car is all you ever need it to be, and can be cherished, and you can't find a suitable replacement?

I am v tempted to let go, but have spent too long getting it right. And the engines not pushing out 340bhp either wink

Replaced the rear window trim with an OEM trim from BMW Cotswolds

Hoovered most of the old perished trim out; pulled the rest out, all the channels cleaned with APC/rinsed, and then liberally coated them again with APC and the trim and then fed it back in with a plastic pry tool etc

Went in easy enough; just start at the top corners and work your way down thumbup

That's why I bit the bullet and had an OE fan! That old phrase "buy cheap, buy twice" came to mind.

thumbup I normally weigh up which part to get on the basis of ease of the job/is the part safety critical/will other components be damaged if it breaks/cost difference between OE and aftermarket.

Took my 340i for an MOT today - pass with 1 advisory of 'Rear Diff has slight oil leak' - had a quick look underneath the car and can't see anything, also park in the same spot every night and there's nothing on the driveway.

Think I'll just monitor it for now. Resist the temptation to upgrade to the M Performance LSD...
Tbh I’m convinced some testers put minors on just so they don’t have a massive history of completely clean passes that raises interest at VOSA for having less than the average of issues.
And you would be wrong, DVSA when checking testers look into other things.

I would however look at the front of the diff, the nose seal tends to leak.

Went to change the front driver's Xenon bulb, a wheel-off job with the E90. The forecast suggested it would stay nice until around 5 pm, so I went out at 3:45. Then it started pissing it down at about 3:50.

But I did manage to look in the fuse box for the first time, and test that at least one of the headlight fuses does indeed look after the headlights. So that's progress.

(I'm going to change both, but the passenger side one does for now actually switch on and produce some light. So that's a bit less urgent.)

Fixed a leaking screenwash reservoir in my E39. This is located behind the offside wheel arch liner.
I've got a leak in my E90, cause as yet unknown.

One of the things I liked about the E46 was that the screenwash mechanism was all completely on display just from opening the bonnet! Meanwhile, on my current car it seems there's basically nothing you can do without at least removing wheel, wheel arch liner, and probably the front bumper too.

(Well, ok... I admit putting more screen wash in is easy enough. And that's why I've been "solving" this problem that way so far.)

Looks like I can cast an eye over the washer jet pumps while I'm changing the headlights, so there's that. Not sure how easy they'd be to change, but at least it'll be more data.

Unfortunately it’s not the easiest system to get at. I found getting the bottle back in harder than getting it out.

Spent hours washing and polishing the 6er yesterday, lovely storm last night and now it's back to where it was before the wash! Don't think the dust in the skip helped. Oh well
