My dodgy passenger window finally gave up the ghost whilst putting the roof up, it slipped fully down! Managed to remove the chrome door strip/seal and grab it with my needle nose pliers.........another bodge to add to the "needs sorting" list whistle

Braved / battled the heat to give both cars a clean, they were both covered in dust and the swallows that nest over the road had peppered them both with st that baked on in the sun.

I like that a lot..

Did the same.. washed and waxed the car at 8am before it got too hot! Had a couple of odd looks from the neighbours smile

13/07/2022 I have been notified by my local independent garage (they carried out aservice and air con reg-gas 06/07/2022) that my E46 has a recall - driver's air bag is the issue, so booked in with Rybrook BMW (Shrewsbury) for it to be sorted net week.

On a separate matter, an Ebay purchase of £7.99 for a replacement reversible grey screw driver to complete the tool kit smile

Same ref my E39 540i (same steering wheel); just need to get it booked in with Bowker BMW local to me...

Another job on the list that's not quite at the top!

I've just been notified by BMW about an outstanding recall for the blower motor (iirc) on my E82. Only issue is - BMW themselves performed the recall in 2020, yet are still sending me letters about it. I've rung the garage who did it, and they say all is fine and don't bring it in.

That was 2 letters ago, I;ve had 4 of the bloody things now!

It sounds like that recall may have been outstanding a long time.

My E46 had a driver airbag recall done in October 2017!

Yes, recall has been for a while. Got another letter about it maybe 6 months ago.

Nothing too excited.

Annual service and mot.

Need to clean it and give it a beer polish and wax, if it ever cools down. If not, I might have to get up at 5am.

Discovered that sone ahole has put a new ding in her 125 on the drivers side rear three quarters panel. Thanks for that.

Luckily the local PDR chap should be able to sort it.

Autobox serviced today at Automatic Transmissions, Preston

Car drives uber smooth now

Grant at AT, Preston said the fluid was disgusting, very black/burnt etc and well due a change!

Worth bearing in mind seeing as the car had only done 56k miles, but is 20 years old...

So sod the 'Sealed for Life' bks that BMW state, stick with what ZF say wink

I need to get the ZF6 in my 335i serviced. I helped a mate service the gearbox on his 530i but it was a bit of a pain in the arse so am happy paying someone else to do it.

..... on a similar note, I also have a screenwash leak, another thing that's massively easier to debug on the E46. On the other hand, amount of rust I noticed this time while poking around in the front wheelarch: none.)
I also had a leak on the front washers but taking off the cabin filter shroud gave easy access to the screen jets and it turned out that the pipe had just come off one of the jets. Simple fix, thankfully!
Ahh, interesting - so did fixing the windscreen jet sort out the front washer too?

If I park my car facing downhill for more than an hour or two, there's quite often a dark, damp patch on the ground underneath the passenger side front bumper. I find that rather suspicious! - just haven't got round to taking apart that side of the car yet laugh - but I assume the entire system will have to be pressurised as one, so perhaps a straightforward minor leak elsewhere could result in symptoms from working parts.

Replaced the high tone horn after thinking the low tone horn had blown and replacing that for no reason. So, £110 and several skint knuckles later, my horn sounds normal again.

Figuring out which side was which was fun too. Not.
