Ordered a few bits….

Re-ordered the rear dampers for my car from Autodoc which have been dispatched on the same day. Hopefully they’ve actually sent what I ordered rather than a substitute without letting me know like last time.

Ordered a load of bolts plus spring mounts etc. so it looks like I’ll finally be getting round to lowering the 335i.

I also finally managed to get hold of the chaps at Royal and have ordered a new wheel (alcantara with silver stitching) plus a new handbrake gaiter (alcantara) and grip (perforated nappa leather). Hopefully they’ll be able to get it done before closing for two weeks on 15th July.
Steering wheel sounds good Sam; not sure I'm brave enough to go for alcantara with how rough my hands are through all the chalk I use for training!

Have you gone back in time too? Closing for 2 weeks - 15th July?! wink

Got the E39 booked in to my pals bodyshop next week.

OEM E39 M5 front lower grille to be fitted along with a full respray of the front bumper
Steelmate rear flush-fit parking sensors to be fitted to the rear bumper & a full respray
All 4 door handles to be resprayed

I'll look to get it detailed after that smile

any reason you're going for this over OEM PDC, are the sensors better?

I was toying with nappa leather but every time I drive the 125i, my alcantara fetish returns!

I’d forgotten that we’re in August already! hehe This year seems to be vanishing at a rate of notts!

Better quality, much more reliable, less faff than retrofitting OEM PDC (you've got to source the PDC module and wiring & then have someone code it to the car, and find the relevant switch pack with heated seats and DSC etc)

The Steelmate ones connect to power and the reverse light wiring and that's it... Switch on when in reverse and off when out of reverse smile

They look better than the OEM PDC sensors also IMO

Had them on my previous Japanese import touring:

Haha know what you mean...

Once I've got the other bits of work and coilovers sorted for the E39; I'll be contacting Jack at RSW to get him to do me another wheel like this, just no paddles:

Very interesting - the wheel on my 125i is starting to look a little sorry for itself so could do with retrimming - how much do RSW usually charge? Would probably be looking at their exchange and fitting service as I don't have another wheel to use for the 2 weeks it's away, and would probably go for Perforated / Nappa with the M tricolour stitching.

Last time I spoke to Jack it was c£200 with £100 deposit until you return the wheel to them etc...

However, have a look on eBay as you may be able to find the same steering wheel as yours, cheap, buy that & send it off to get refurbed etc!

Depends on the finish. I’m paying £190 for alacantara and yet wheel being made thinner.

I just changed my F31 steering wheel, (the original was really cracked we think probably due to hand sanitiser from the previous owner) picked up a bare wheel for £120 off a 15000 mile car and Royal swapped it over and took the old wheel in payment.

Dug this out of the air duct under the passenger seat- I was getting an irritating noise like something was sliding around every time I turned a corner and some forum threads helped me track it down to the air ducts in the floor. Apparently BMW didn’t think to add a lip or mesh to stop stuff getting in…

Was expecting to find a pen or some coins but I’m mostly glad to be rid of the noise! It’s a shotgun cartridge for clay shooting for anyone none the wiser, clearly a pastime of the previous owner as I went once years ago and was awful. laugh
That's a weird one - never seen a shotgun cartridge with two brass ends before!! Might be worth a look inside?
I know very little about guns but did think having brass at both ends was unusual... assumed it was some kind of cartridge I wasn't familiar about. One of my mates joked that the shotgun cartridge was proof it was owned by a drug dealer (being a BMW and all that) and I shot him down saying it was a clay shooting cartridge so much more likely to be a country type... but now I'm wondering if it was filled with white powder. laugh Sadly it's long since gone in the bin, so I'll have to hope there wasn't a roll of £50 notes in there!

I'm considering a trip to Royal steering wheels too- the leather on mine is looking pretty shiny (and the trim is starting to peel) and a good effort with some Autoglym leather cleaner made no difference. I've heard they do handbrakes and gearstick gaiters too- has anyone used them for that? Quite tempted to get mine done in Nappa along with the steering wheel, and I am tempted to get red stitching to match the coral red leather in mine.

I’d highly recommend the chaps at RSW. They’ve done various wheels plus gaiters and bits of trim for me. In my old 130 they did the wheel, binnacle cover, dash insert, gaiters and hand brake in alcantara with yellow stitching to match the leather.

Deep clean day, including auto-wheel on the alloys, wax and polish. Exhaust tips this evening, if I can find the Autosol.

Last time I did this I didn’t check the weather forecast and received a full dump of sandy Sahara rain for my trouble, minutes after finishing cry

Looks good in those pictures though.

My car was cleaned the other day and still looked ok after a 150 mile round trip today. Within minutes of being back home it’s covered in tiny bits of straw from the fields that are being harvested.

Got my E34 for a drive and a wash - and finally got around to cleaning the door shuts at the front of the front doors - it had been bugging me every time I got in the car for years but then I would I forget or put it off. A spray of gunk and the use of an old toothbrush and they are super clean again.

I replaced the broken driver's side cup-holder on my Z4, and polished the exhaust tips ready for BMW Somerfest on Sunday!

Oil change done (was disgusting, (Bosch filer was dated 2020)! New Mahle filter used and Triple QX 5W30 added (drew out just over 7.5 liters using my Pela pump) - will use this is a flush and change it again in 4 weeks time with Liqui Moli 5W30 and a Mann/Mahle filter

Rear NS window sorted too; wouldn't lower (could hear it click etc)

door card off; vapour barrier removed and it was disgusting. All cleaned, doused in Wurth Rost Off Ice; window now works. Recoated in lithium grease and door card stuck down with new mastic. Rear OS vapour barrier sorted too...

Which make of oil extractor is that Dan and what’s the capacity please?

This one pal: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sealey-TP696-5-5ltr-Manua...

I only paid £42 for it; god knows why it's double the price!

I have just bought this though as I've dropped the Sealey one and cracked it slightly:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/slredirect/picassoRedi...

The pipes aren't long enough as they come (not for my E39); but just ordered some longer pipe to rectify that smile

Which extra pipes? Did the extraction pipe on your new one not reach the bottom of the sump?
