Yeah, it’s certainly sub optimal! I thought the passenger side would be worse so thought I’d got away with it since that side was solid.

And boom…the wire brush attachment of doom put an end to such silly thoughts.
That's one way of putting it! hehe

Hope it can fixed without a huge amount of bother and expense.

Rubbish isn’t it?

All these liners and stuff just prevent simple washing of the crud out.

Just having no liners would probably leave these areas lovely and rust free with just good arch cleaning.

I’m about to take all mine out and treat/clean before winter… a bit worried what I’ll find!
16yrs/112k miles.
I'm more an ignorance is bliss kinda guy. paperbag

E91 is off to the garage with the (suspected) blowing exhaust. Has (probably as expected) triggered an EML.

Apparently wife has hit the exhaust and properly fked it. They've needed to get a fabricator in to sort (vs replacement!). Should be getting done today.

I'll probably get them fitted in the next few days whilst it's still dry before it starts to lash it down again midweek onward rolleyes

Looks cool

My only slight personal dislike is the M Performance stickering on the side, but that's personal preference.

Took it out with the wife and her sister for a nice relaxing lunch, hit a very small pothole on the way in and now it appears the right rear suspension has collapsed!

Struggling to see what's broken, but there's a horrible noise whenever you try to move it, and I'm told by the wife that when you try to move the car the wheel looks a bit "wobbly".

Deep, deep joy.
Sounds exactly like what happened to her only 125i cab. The metal cup, just above the bump stop had rusted through and the damper made a bid for freedom into the boot. Happened to my mates 125i as well.
Just heard from the chap who recovered the 125i and is now trying to put it back together for me - apparently the springs are absolutely fine, however I have sheared a bolt on the rear suspension which is causing the issue. He wasn't specific about which bolt, however I'm glad I decided to park it up and not try to make it home.

Should make the repair less worrying parts wise, sounds like fixing it could be fun though, depending on what's left of the bolt.
Hopefully gets sorted out with minimal fuss/issue.

X5 had a sagging bum. Needed both rear air suspension items replaced as they were leaking. NS was worse than the OS and would start sagging after a few days of being stationary. Car drives a lot nicer now - v smooth and feels stable.

Also had weird situation going on with the a/c where half the vents were warm and half were cold. Research suggested either needed a regas or some kind of valve under the bonnet needed replacing. Pleased to say a regas has sorted the issue.

VED is due on it this month. Not a cheap month at all. frown

That's a good fix... Which year X5 pal?

Sounds similar to the E39s with the heater valve in the engine bay; the valves would seize and you'd either have no warm air at all; or it'd be on all the time even with aircon on full whack
2007 (E70). It's on 18s with Michelin Cross Climate (non RFTs) so the ride is genuinely nice. Feels a lot more stable now, especially in the corners.

I was hoping it'd just be the regas rather than more faff with that valve situ.

Does look like the rocker cover is getting leaky though...maybe something to look at next month year.

Yup... When rainbows appear after it's rained; leave it another month or so biggrin
hehe

Rainbows are pretty. hippy

The other thing I need to do is get the second hand remote I bought for the rear entertainment coded to the car. I'm assuming this is a dealer only job.

Just had another update on the 125i - the bolt that has sheared goes directly into the wheel hub, and of course it's the hub that got the bolt remnants in it that are proving difficult to get out. So my guy is currently removing the hub from the car and sending it to a local engineering company to drill it out, then hopefully fit a new one. If that doesn't work it's new wheel hub time.

All making me very glad the pothole I hit was on the run up to some traffic lights, so I was doing about 10 mph - dread to think what could have happened at dual carriageway speeds.
The car was looking after you, failing at the right time. angel

Sounds like a bit of a ball ache.

At least they’re trying to get the remains of the bike out rather than just want to fit a new hub.
Did he run over a cyclist!? hehe

Drove the 6 on a d/c yesterday, pissing rain. Felt somewhat floaty/wayward - defo not confidence inspiring. Will check tyre pressures. Probably could do with tracking...

Recent MOT didn't suggest any significant suspension issues...but they may not have been checking 'properly'.

630i seemingly has healed itself.

Was having an odd idle issue over the last few months. On start up, unstable idle maybe for 5-10 seconds and then settled. Would only happen if the car was left for ~6-12 hours or so. If left longer, such as over the weekend for example, not an issue. If restarted after an hour, not in issue. No EML. No codes on DME search.

I tried the BMW petrol additive/injector cleaner thinking it might be an injector issue but didn't seem to do anything.

The only difference I've done of late I can think of is using Shell petrol (their normal 95 octane) during the last two fill ups. Normally I use Tesco 99. Might chuck a bit of V Power in next time.

Also booked it in for rear discs/pads next week. Bought Brembo bits from CP4L. I'll ask them to do an oil change at the same time (got the oil (BMW spec LL-04) and a Mann filter)).

Managed to get the wife's Racing Jazz done though biggrin and I'm knackered now rolleyes

Gave it a good coating of AGs Rapid Ceramic Spray too; it's worked superbly on the F31 and would highly recommend it thumbup

Christmas fun and games rolleyes

Drove the X5 to see sister for Christmas - approx 90 mins journey, mainly A12/M25. On arrival literally pulling up looked like a lot of white smoke. My first thought was maybe valve stem seals. Looked under the bonnet see that it in fact this was a coolant situation. There was spray everywhere.

Looked like it was pissing out the bottom of the expansion tank. Not ideal, but could have been a lot worse if it had happened en route on the A12 or M25. Didn't seem to overheat either (luckily). Left it overnight as nothing to be done on Christmas Day.

This morning filled it up with water (I think it took >3 litres) and could see that it was actively dripping out the bottom of the tank (probably cracked etc).

My parents live a mile away so (after some advice) decided to take the risk and drive it the 5 mins to parents and it'll be 'dealt with' in the new year. Topped up to max with water and made it with no issues.

In the meantime, looks like I'll be back in the Shedtastic 330Ci which I gave to my dad.

Manual box and no heated seats.

Moral of the story: always have accessible back up BMWs. thumbup

It's decided to die this afternoon and throw a drivetrain malfunction stuck in P, It did start eventually but came up with the drivetrain issue and is stuck in P.

Oddly the app shows everything as fine, in the past I got a puncture and assist seemed to know before me and were straight on the phone as the app knew but there is clearly a technical fault with the car which I think is messing the key/app and various ECUs up.

I'll call the dealer tomorrow see what they say, the notifications feel quite ironic today and I must clean that touch screen.

I would report BMW for trolling with that message in your situation. hehe
