^Agreed, looks great Court_S.

@Deep Thought - how did you get on with your knob (replacement)? Tempted to attend to mine (so to speak). Was it a pull off job?

As I mentioned in one of the other threads, I put a Hella MAF on my 330Ci and I've not had any issues. Keep us updated on how you get on. Good luck!
I will be honest your post did give me a bit more confidence In the hella maf. So far so good 40miles done with no sign of the light.

Did have an interesting moment this morning when on the outside lane of the m4 the wheel well liner decided it no longer wanted to be attached to the car and exploded into a million pieces behind me. Safe to say I don’t think I put it on quite right Saturday afternoon. I’m not afraid to say I absolutely sh!t my pants

Absolutely beautiful!

Yes, the NA 3.0 litres do make a lovely noise. You can forgive them the lack of outright power because of that. I've had my Z4 Coupe a year now and havent had the radio on once. Same with my 330i when i had it too.
Thanks.

They’re more than powerful enough to enjoy a decent road though and you don’t find yourself doing completely ridiculous speeds. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not like thrashing an old MX 5 because you’re speeding, it’s just that it’s not quite so fast as say my 140i was.

So many innuendo possibilities! hehe

Is it an auto or manual that you’re changing?

Ordered a new knob!

Mines badly worn through over use.

Apparently the original one just pops off if you grip it firmly

I really wanted the 'Dark Birch' one as per the Accessories brochure

Well, funny you should mention that..

It all ended in tears and frustration, but that could be an age thing...

Ordered this off of ebay. You will note it clearly says E63 in the title.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/201822686714?fits=Car+M...

It turns out that the long sticky out bit is slightly too long on that one for my car, and its this more expensive one i need.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/203288057893?fits=Car+M...

You will note that the long sticky out bit isnt just as long and sticky out.

They also quote a part number for you to check - but there is no visible part number on it...

So the first one has got returned and refunded but havent got round to ordering the other one yet.

Yes, they do just pull off. Put it in park (though i think any gear is fine). Then just pull firmly and it'll come off.

I fitted the last few LED interior bulbs which looks loads more modern.

I have a bunch of parts ready to go to RSW for retrimming so I swapped the worn steering wheel over for one with less wear.

Popped over to see a local body shop and booked the car in next week to have the previous bad paint repair on the drivers door put right (managed to reign myself in and just stick to that...).

Few bits arrived; new shift bush, E46 M3 gearbox mounts and my Colourlock kit so I can returb the seats when I get the car back. I’ll fit the gearbox mounts etc next week when I remove the CDV.

I’ve got a busy few weeks with spare trim arriving for wrapping plus refurbing the seats etc.

Spark plugs changed and they were in hell of a state! The engine is a lot smoother and quieter now! The only problem is I’ve snapped one of the studs for the engine cover. Not sure if it’s an easy fix, I will have to do some digging.

Then she had a good polish, didn’t get round to waxing this afternoon so tomorrow will be wax and interior as she’s a bit grubby at the moment

Few silly little jobs today....

Routed and aux cable through the centre console on my other half’s 125i

The last one got mullered somehow when it was loose and flapping about. This should be better.

Also fitted some overlay stickers to the airbag badges which were looking a bit crap in both cars. Worth a shot for £3 (for both)

I did my anti roll bar bushings on the rear and the front drop links yesterday. All the knocking from the front has gone now.
I did drop the rear subframe slightly and had a half hearted attempt at getting one of the subframe bushings out because I’ve got M3 ones to go in but as expected not a chance.
I’ve got new diff bushings coming so I’ll drop the whole subframe out and do them all together.

Having given my E46 330i Sport Individual a wash, I decided to do the same for my E39 530i Sport Individual Champagne Edition II before the rain came (yesterday). Great to see the flakes in Sapphire Black Metallic still showing through well!

Had a go at the roof wiring harness replacement. Got some way in but ran out of time and reached a point where forging ahead would have meant not being able to close the roof tonight, so a bit galling to have to put everything back how it was. It's a ballache of a job, but I've at least come out of today with some ideas for how to make it easier, and a much better idea of what I'm doing, should take less than an hour to get back to where I got to.

Most random though, is that having buggered around with it for several hours, it now sort of works again, admittedly in stages, but managed to open and close it automatically. I suspect this means the broken wires are in the complicated hinge bit.

Had a great run out of some local roads out towards Horncastle. Found a stunning little village near there with some great roads around it

Washed both cars.

The front discs I fitted to my other half’s 125i had a piss poor coating so had rusted really quickly and looked pants. I decided to sort them and the callipers out.

Topped up my front left tyre for the umpteenth time, have had a particularly annoying slow puncture for a while now, so have decided its time to get that fixed. Car is due a service this month, so when it's in I'm going to ask my guy to get the wheels refurbished as well.

Of course I'm now thinking of the important stuff - what finish to go for. It's a Titan Silver E82 with the same wheels as Court S a couple of posts above. Don't want black or silver so was thinking something more gunmetal. A friend has just bought a Titan Silver E39 M5 and am loving how the wheels on that work so was thinking Shadow Chrome? Has anyone tried it on a 1 Series or something similar?

Can I ask what paint you used please.

I'm in the process of changing discs and pads, so nice shiny discs, but the calipers are showing all of their 17 years of age at the moment and would be nice to tidy them up a bit while everything is apart.

Callipers were painted with POR-15 calliper paint which I had left over from painting the callipers on her last car. The retaining clips were painted with black Hammerite.
