Very jealous, that is peak BMW for me. The carbon plenum is automotive art, both visually and aurally.
Sorry just noticed this, I ended up pulling the whole box out to access the throttle position sensor that is attached to the throttle actuator.

Here are some additional pictures of the box, it really is a great bit of design. Even the cable clips that are hidden under the bulkhead trim are carbon.

In case you were wondering how big the inlet flap is:

There aren't many manufacturers that give you induction as well as exhaust noise. Looking at the CSL plenum you can understand why it makes such an amazing sound.

That CSL plenum is lovely to look at and even nicer to listen to. I love the way the CSL sounds.

Wheel has come up well; never seen those wipes before!

I need to do mine; just ordered a magic eraser block; will give it a good wipe down with a piece of that and APC first & see how that goes...
Don't use a magic eraser on leather, it removes the finish rather than cleans it. Google will show the results.
Ah; never knew that! Never had an issue before; always found it clean the wheel well... But never went at it hard/aggressive etc
When BMW made the M sport wheel for the F series, they applied what seemed to be thinnest, gummiest piece of leather ever over it.

Hence why magic eraser gets rid of the coating.

The steering wheel design is just fantastic but sadly the quality is not up to par.

Full exterior wash this morning after yesterdays interior detail

Wheels washed first with BH Touchless and a wheel detailing brush; rinsed, then BH Touchless applied to the car and left to dwell for 7/8mins

Rinsed, washed with Gtechniq Auto W1 car shampoo, rinsed, AGs Polar Seal applied, rinsed & then towel dried inc all door & tailgate shuts

Wheels also towel dried and then Gyeon Q2 tire gel applied

All new Bosch windscreen wipers fitted, front & back

Done thumbup

Yeah - it's amazing how quickly they wear. I thought it was the shame that they ditched the perforated sections too.

For steering wheel cleaning, koch chemie pol-star diluted at 1:10 & microfiber will work well on leather. It’s great on alcantara too.

Cheers - I am enjoying it a lot!

Knew I should have held out for an F31 when I was looking after I sold my previous F01; instead bought another Japanese import E39... rolleyeslaugh

Lesson learned!

Dropped it off with Bowker BMW this morning for the warranty work to be sorted (front dust boots & bump stops, intermittent horn and tailgate latching issues)

Should have it back in a few days smile

Left a large A4 note on the passenger seat asking them NOT to valet/wash the car or to touch the dashcam (already disconnected and switched off); lets see if they do as they've been asked!

My local dealer are pretty good with the no wash; they have a load of laminated signs saying no wash that they pop on yet dash.

Hopefully they'll do the same pal; don't need them to undo all the work I did Sunday & yesterday!

Sadly it looks like I'm going to have to add a litre of oil 1400 miles after I had the work done to stop it leaking oil. I haven't had the Add a Litre message yet but it is one line of the graph above needing it so will put some more in to be on the safe side.

I can't see any around the engine so I suspect it's a faulty CCV, as the exhausts are a touch on the sooty side, even for 168k miles. It's due an Inspection service in June as well, so will get it booked in the next couple of weeks.

Ever feel like your love of 14 year old leaky BMWs is about to be tested? smile

Sorry if you have already said, but what weight oil do you use at that mileage?

I would definitely be using 5W40, but you could also consider 10w50.

It could, like you say, be your CCV, but in Germany when these cars, especially the petrol ones, get to 200k km, they tend to move to a thicker oil and oil consumption is just like when new.

Just a thought.

1,400 miles to a litre seems quite high. My 330i does around 3-5,000 miles on a litre of the black, and is now at 194,000 miles. 3,000 miles/L was mostly autobahn speeds upwards of 100MPH. Usage has been pretty consistent since I bought it at 138,000 miles. I did a CCV replacement and there’s no major oil leaks. (I think the oil cap is a little leaky but that’s it). I tend to use 5w-30 LL-04 oils and change every 10,000 miles. This meaning I usually add a litre or two between services.

It's actually much better than before I had the sump replaced, it was 1 litre in 700 miles before that smile

Currently using 5W30 LL04 and the current load is only a couple of months/1400 miles old, so I'm not in a hurry to replace it again - although 7 litres of 5W40 is a bit cheaper than a CCV I'm guessing? Is there anything else to be aware of if going to thicker oil? Longer warmups etc?

Sadly the OH last night uttered the words "Don't you think you should be looking at a new car?" - which to be fair I am. But I was more thinking of a 128ti to replace our old Honda Civic rather than selling the 125i....
