Looks good but I had the same worries .

I saw somebody wrapped the bottom of the M Sport bumper in black to sort of give it a bit of contrast but avoiding the scraping.

Still unsure about how that looks.. I have a mineral grey car so it might look unsuitable.

I don’t mind that at all.

I keep toying with the idea of a splitter but worry it’s going to be a pain since my car is lowered with M3 arms.

Yeah, not my cuppa sorry; looks a half arsed job and pretending to have a splitter fitted IMO

I think if you're worried; try an eBay version or one from MStyle or similar and see how you get on before forking out £hundreds for a CF or OEM splitter etc

I think in the future for my F31 I will be lowering it a touch on Eibach pro-kit springs, but that'll be once it's out of BMW warranty etc. I wouldn't want to go any lower than that due to the roads and speed humps local to me, as well as the pro-kit springs working fine with OEM shocks

Started to get the front hubs back together. Bearing units bolted to hubs, and caliper carriers too. All torqued to BMW spec.

Aware that in my haste, I’ll need to unbolt the carriers to get the discs on later down the line banghead

New ATE Ceramic pads slotted into the refreshed calipers.

New hardlines, HEL braided hoses, and brackets fitted to the front. And the arch liners back in.

Went for the black “carbo-look” finish on the HEL lines rather than a bright colour. A bit more OEM, with a subtle bit of “modded” look to it.

Waiting for new disc splash guards to arrive, and the rest of the suspension parts (spring pads etc) and then hopefully get the shocks, hubs, steering arms & front subframe on over the long Easter weekend!

It's coming on well.. It'll be a new car wink

You'll like those brake pads. Get them bedded in and they'll be spot on

Got the load space absolutely filthy with bags of potting compost (some had split when I loaded them) for the greenhouse and seeds that need sowing...

Will clean it tomorrow when I do both cars...

Also booked the touring in with someone recommended to me to fit the M Performance side skirt decals later this month

Gave the old girl the rest of her spring clean;

Washed, dried, chemical decontamination, clayed, two stage polish, glazed and finished with two coats of Fusso cost. Glass cleaned and the interior got a quick spruce up.

Since I’m stuck with the stick airbox, I treated it to a better drop in filter.

Changed the cabin filter too which was dated 2018 and was a bit chegged up. All set for Sunday Service in the morning and a few runs up the hill climb..

Great job well done Sam; looks spanking! thumbup

If not already; wipe the excess oil off the filter so it doesn't coat the MAF sensor

Nice, let us know how that looks. I might follow your advice and get a crappy cheapo splitter to see how it goes. If it gets torn off it gets torn off! Which I’m sure it will do. As I mentioned before I’m on Eibachs , yesterday I was driving around the W5 area late at night, distracted by a road sign and promptly drove over a massive speed bump and bottomed out completely laugh .. would have been bye bye splitter instantly!

TBH they have more give to them than you realise; it may catch and drag, but if the surface is like a speed hump, then it'll just make a horrible noise more than likely... Think it's when you get bogged down on something that'll cause more serious issues

Cheers Dan. The filter was dry unlike the oily messes that they used to be. I reckon the ITG filter I furred to my 140i had more oil on it.

A bit of a faff to release the trim around the gear stick, but after that removal of a few screws:

It is possible to replace the two lids /doors without removing the unit, but I decided to replace the whole thing.
Where did you get them from?

Took what was a very clean car to Prescott Hill Climb for PH Sunday Service.

Felt fast driving up the hill, looks very slow but made a nice noise so I’ll settle for that.

https://youtube.com/shorts/MZSTgN6HFuI?feature=sha...

I managed to get through £55 of super doing 120 miles (and it was cheap where I filled up, 10p less than home).

EBay - I will check the receipt for confirmation of the seller’s details.

Edited to add (my mistake) - purchased from the E46 Club UK Facebook Group.

Nipped the engine cover off to look at what will need doing soon. Valvetronic motor gasket is leaking.

I’ll get one ordered and fit it. And an oil cap too, as I think that’s leaking slightly. Surprisingly the valve cover isn’t leaking, which is good going for 194,000 miles now.

Oh, also ordered a new pair of rear tyres. Michelin Pilot sport 5, £395 delivered for them. Expensive, but Michelins are my favourite.

Great tyres imo - have a set on the 125i and can't fault them other than the price - lots of grip in all weathers and much quieter than the old PS4.

Mines decided to be annoying and had broken it's passenger door lock. Naturally it's broken in the locked position, so getting the door card off to fix the mechanism is going to be a right palaver. Might be time for my friendly mechanic to step in....

Tyres seem quite dear at the moment.

I’ll be needing a pair of rears soon and most of the prices feel eye watering especially compared to what I paid for a full set this time last year.

They are, more so the premium ones

I went for the Goodyear Assym 6s as they were £250 cheaper than the Michelin PS5s!

I've had 2 new rear Michelin PS4S put on the Merc today...£510 each! yikes

To add insult to injury the rear Contis that I put on it back in January only lasted 3 months/6k miles(they were £330 each in comparison). So I'm hoping that the PS4S last a bit longer than they have for sure.

I'm going off premium tyres fast now! hehe

Michelins are my favourite as well, and I put 2 new MPSS on the front of the M4 a few weeks ago and they were £200 each.
