Passed.
*puts Z4 back in garage*
Good stuff; I hate the usual nerves each year for the the results. I think my E46 has scarred me because every time that thing went near a garage my wallet took a battering.*puts Z4 back in garage*

MOT day today.... just spent £800 on two callipers, pads and disks and an oil change on my xc90. Could really do with a “pass” today on the 630
Edit
Offside Headlamp aim too low (4.1.2 (a))
Front Anti-roll bar linkage ball joint dust cover no longer prevents the ingress of dirt both sides (5.3.4 (b) (ii))
Not too bad!
Good stuff. Did you get that battery issue sorted in the end?Edit

Have to sell the 330i apparently....
Welcome to the 630 club Looks like a nice example. Appears that you've even got the cup holder option (fancy! ) Bought another one? Does that count?

On the day I took my Z4 for MOT, I also drove the E91 and the E63...so all 3 with the N52 six cylinder. Amazing how despite the same engine, the characters are so different.
Remember I mentioned someone at work reversed into the NS front wing of my 6 Series. Finally had an opportunity to have a good luck/clean and polish to assess the damage.
Luckily, no denting of the wing (I think they may be composite rather than metal), however some paint damage and scuffing
Cleaned up as much as possible and left with this:
Gave it a good go over with Megiuiar's Scratch X and this is the best I can get. Obviously there's the area of paint damage and the remaining scuffs.
Is that area of paint damage amenable to a 'Smart Repair'? I'm hoping the scuffs could buff out with a proper machine polish.
How much would you estimate it'd cost to put right? The chap who did the damage is willing to pay and would prefer to avoid insurance (me too given the relatively minor extent of the damage).
My Saturdays are sparse because of covid vaccination clinics, so the minimum fuss and disruption the better.
What do you guys reckon?

I think fingers crossed, sorted the intermittent airbag warning light on the E63 (code 93C1).
The connection under the seat was pretty dirty/corroded. Plenty of electrical cleaner sprayed and it looks cleaner. Here's hoping.
Replaced the oil cooler gasket on the E91 ( with Genuine OEM BMW item).
Cunningly placed towel avoided the belt underneath getting covered in oil.
Old gasket not in the best of shape.
When removing the airbox, noticed a bit of damage at the bottom. Not sure whether that would affect the running of the car?
Finally, RE-listed the E36 328i Touring on eBay (ad live at 19:30) after a non paying time waster last November.

A smart repair will get rid of that. It’ll obviously not be as good as a proper trip to a body shop.
I paid £150 for a rear bumper scuff on her old 116 to be sorted. Once polished it looked pretty spot on.
I took it to a couple of bodyshops last week, including one specialising in Smart Repair. Apparently owing to the location, a Smart Repair would be difficult and they recommended just spraying the whole wing (£300+VAT!)I paid £150 for a rear bumper scuff on her old 116 to be sorted. Ordered a new knob!
Mines badly worn through over use.
Apparently the original one just pops off if you grip it firmly
Given they are autos, I don't know how they get so much wear! I think maybe rings scratch them.Mines badly worn through over use.

I want to replace the scratched silver one on my 630i for a the dark wooden finish to match the centre console

Looks identical to my old 328i Touring. Good luck with sale.JakeT said:

Manual E36 328i touring?! What a delight. I need to scratch the E36 itch, it's been just too long.

Needs some TLC.
Was a very useful car. King size mattress - no problem.
(Was on genuine Alpina Softlines at the time)

I had a 328i manual touring which was lpg converted about 11 or 12 years ago. That was the same or similar blue too! Good car, can’t remember why I sold it and what replaced it now. I did the m52b25 inlet manifold conversion on it, made quite a noticeable difference iirc.
GLWTS.
Used to have an E36 325i (rust killed it). I actually sold the M50 manifold separately for more than scrap value of the car itself!GLWTS.

Nice for sale classified - it's good to see an advert with what I would consider a normal amount of information. Amazing how poor some are.
Not sure if you're a keen breaker, the engine and gearbox combo surely seems worth keeping?
No time, patience or inclination tbh. Got 4 BMWs on the go at the mo, plus the E46 330Ci my dad is now looking after. Not sure if you're a keen breaker, the engine and gearbox combo surely seems worth keeping?

Had an oil service and a new oil filter gasket fitted on my 330i by my BMW Indy today, and got an MOT with no advisories for my Z4MC this afternoon.
Today I used the 630i as a bed. (Long story involving baby g3org3y not sleeping, driving around at 1:30am to settle him, McDonald's at 3:30am and sleeping in the car until 5:15am rather than risk waking him).

That sounds like hard work. I knew there was a reason why I was never destined to be a parent! I didn't meet Mrs Tidy until she was in her late 40s.
Still you got a Maccy D's, so not all bad.
It has been a while since I needed to drive him around to get him to sleep. Was quite a common occurrence when he was younger. In those days, he was in a baby car seat, so you'd just take the whole seat out carefully and bring it/him into the house without waking him. Now he's in the infant seat, you'd have to unstrap him and pick him up, get him into the house and into his cot without waking. I didn't fancy that challenge at 3:45am so sleeping in the car was the best option!

^ I can remember those days ,all part of the journey . E36 M3 battery on charge ,she's been in the barn for a few years , will drag her out in the next week or so and see what's what . Bit more free time and room in the garage , let's get to work .
Yes..the journey! Re the M3 - not been used at all for 3 years?
In other BMW related news, M539 Restorations has a new E21 Project.

And here's me thinking of chopping in the Z4 with a view to E93 M3 or F83 M4...and yet I do hear such great things about the M2...
You just never hear a bad word said about the M2 for sure. The M2 is arguably the best modern BMW that you can buy I reckon. I love my M4 but the majority seem to prefer the M2 overall though. Court_S said:

Yes, seems to be a return to form for BMW. However, I want a convertible (because I'm a tart), so it's either M3 or M4.
Nothing wrong with a convertible for me. I had a test drive in a M4 convertible back in 2016 and I really enjoyed driving it roof down for sure. My brother in law also has a E93 convertible and I've had a few goes in that and the V8 sounds absolutely lovely with the roof down.
E93 M3’s are cheap, a shed load cheaper than either the coupe or saloon.
Changed the pollen filter on the X5 at the weekend and noticed that the plastic engine partition was broken.
Not my photos but illustrates the issue.
All 3 bits broken as well as the parts that attach to the engine bay bilaterally.
NOT cheap from BMW.
£111 each side
£70 centre part
£15 for each engine bay attachment.
Was going to get the cheapo Chinese copy kit from eBay (about £50 for the three bits, not the engine bay attachments) but from my research, apparently the design of the centre section was changed by BMW later in the design life to improve draining as well as the formulation of the plastic composite to make it more heat resistant. I think the BMW item also has metal mounting points for the bolts and I don't want any issues with fit etc.
Ordered the parts from Cotswold BMW, with a discount.
