Not biased re the colour combo at all!
Just getting the A/C regassed. Really hoping it works and I get away with just having that done.
Fingers crossed it's a simple fix.Just getting the A/C regassed. Really hoping it works and I get away with just having that done.
I remember when we bought ours, the A/C wasn't especially cold. Regas sorted it for 48hrs. Turned out there was an A/C pipe leak round the back somewhere that cost a decent amount to fix. Wife was particularly annoyed at the time as she was 7 months pregnant and it was an especially hot summer. Once it was sorted, she was delighted and spent her lunch breaks just driving around to keep cool (as her office otherwise was a sauna despite 3x fans pointed at her).

The start of a shopping list of parts for my F31
I'm bored and can't do a lot so may as well spend some £££

DIY modded in a QC3.0 charging cable that neatly tucks away. This stops the mrs cluttering up the centre console with lighter socket usage. I dislike clutter. My phone charges in the fast wireless charging bay below the armrest.
Also got some new tye sidewall product, King of Sheen (it's not actually glossy, it's satin matte lustre):

The A/C was a massive improvement after a regas…just hoping it stays that way!
The interior was tackled yesterday…it was fking disgusting once the seats were out.
And after some hard work
The boot was very dusty which probably didn’t help with the smell inside!
Looks better now though
Did a bit of coding too so it now has the digital speedo, comfort key eject, headlight washers turned off and auto lock at 8mph.
I’m tackling the paint today.

Got round to fitting some, but not all of my new suspension bits this weekend. It's a tale of two halves really, this tale. I only originally planned to do the rears myself and get someone else to do the slightly more complicated fronts.
I don't drive this car all that often, as I commute down nasty, narrow, potholed lanes. I have a tatty old Megane that refuses to die for doing that in. My wife had said there was a bit of a clonk from rear passenger side, and on inspection the shock absorber is well and truly knackered.
It's a pretty easy removal, with a single bolt at the bottom and three at the top to remove the whole assembly. The mount then gets whipped off using this very canny pass through socket set I'm very glad I bought for the job.
Old shock was well and truly dead. Had almost no rebound left in it at all.
Once the mount was fitted to the new shock absorber, it was just a case of clipping in the new cable and whipping in the top and bottom bolts. Job's a good'un. Probably took me 3 hours to do both sides with a couple of teabreaks.
This, dear readers is where the tale sours a little. Buoyed by the sucesses of the previous day, I decided to tackle the fronts on Sunday. A bit more tricky, but how complicated could they be? everything was going swimmingly until the pinch bolt on the knuckle holding the base of the shock absorber sheared
Of course this is a Sunday and I'm miles from any kind of BMW dealer and Eurocarparts. I've got a few M8 bolts the right length, so I've just put one of those in there with a nylock on the other side and I'll leave the car parked up till the new pinch bolt arrives.
At this point I was well and truly wondering what I'd got myself into....
Eventually got one side finished with the bodged bolt and surprisingly the new pinch bolts were only £3 so I've got them and will attempt the other side.

Nowt worse than sitting in someone else's dirt/filth! Good to see you've got it done already...
What's made you turn the headlight washer off & what happens when it comes to MOT?

Same issue as mine with the 'handle' on the boot floor coming off (I've not replaced).JakeT said:
Normally people turn them off to save washer fluid. Come MOT time, Sam will be okay as his car has halogens.
I leave them on because I have a strange liking for them, and I’ve found them useful in awful winter conditions.
I like a headlight washer. Since I sprayed the 'telescopic' bits with silicon spray lube, they not longer get stuck and actually retract properly.I leave them on because I have a strange liking for them, and I’ve found them useful in awful winter conditions.

I turned mine off because I got fed up with it covering the front corner of the car with water and emptying the washer fluid tank too quickly.I leave them on because I have a strange liking for them, and I’ve found them useful in awful winter conditions.

I’ve noticed that on mine they only activate every fourth or fifth application of the skooshers for the screen.I leave them on because I have a strange liking for them, and I’ve found them useful in awful winter conditions.

Yup, it’s rank. This has been the worst of our recent BMW’s with regards to rescuing it.Nowt worse than sitting in someone else's dirt/filth! Good to see you've got it done already...

As already said, technically I don’t need them because I have candies in ham jars for headlights.

Headlight washers are only tested in cars registered from September 2009. Even then, it will only result in a fail (major fault) for cars with HID or LED headlights. For halogen-equipped cars it will be a minor fault.Gassing Station | BMW General | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
