Not done much, MOT and brake fluid change two weeks ago.

Last weekend did a wash, clay, 2 stage polish, glaze and seal. It's my first and last black car.

Had to fit security posts, had low life scum try and break in for the keys as they were in faraday wallets and the car has a steering lock on. Hoping one more layer of visual obstacles will lessen the chance of further attempts.

Our older E91 330d will have the same this weekend, preparing to sell that after 7 years as we don't need two 3.0 estates now.

Agree re black cars though; said that re my sapphire black E39 530i Sport a good few years back; ended up getting it professionally detailed at one point and then I sold it laugh

E39 - washed and dried after changing the bonnet release cables and fitting new lenses to the headlights over the last few days. Looks fabulous now with showroom condition headlights and refreshed bodywork from last year.

E34 - after discovering the bonnet release cable is NLA I bought a second hand one and dropped it off at a local specialist Bowden cable repair/rebuild company to be made as new. Company is brilliant as they remade an NLA M635CSi throttle cable for me last year.

E24 635CSi - I recently received the V5 back from DVLA confirming change of taxation status to Historic (as well as confirming I have paid the £0 rate of tax) so I fired it up, filled it up with fuel, and took it for a quick spin whilst making a mental note of a few things to fix in the next six weeks before I put it up for sale. No cost tax, no MoT necessary and ULEZ exempt should assist in a quick sale.

E38 - fired up to give neighbours a lift into town for a special evening out.

Full OEM BMW CF/alcantara interior trim swap over plus the OEM red start/stop button biggrin

I'll fit the pedals when I'm feeling better and up for some footwell gymnastics as there's a bit of drilling to be done etc

Looks good Dan.

I loved the dry / open weave carbon in my M140i. Expensive but lovely.

Cheers Sam

Agree; not cheap but looks really well. Love the finish of it too

Just really glad I was able to find the main lot used but very well looked after; it came in all it's original packaging too, which is a huge bonus!

Sounds good. Are you adding the handbrake and gaiter to finish it all off? The steering wheel trim is very expensive for what it is, but once I’d started…. laugh

Washed the E91 before the sun made an appearance and started to re-polish it with a heavy cutting compound and pad. I’ve only done the boot lid and rear bumper so far, but it’s definitely an improvement. I’ll do bits with each wash so it’s not too time consuming.

I’ve also fitted the walnut trim, which I think complements the lemon leather better than the brushed aluminium trim.

2 new PS5's on the back of the 140 after picking this up. Annoying but they were due to be replaced soon'ish so could have been worse.

I need the car at 6am tomorrow so was forced to use Kwik Fit. Quick they are not.

I'll sort the tyres pressures later when it has cooled down - idrive was reporting they had put 34psi in one and 40 in the other!!

Would have thought that could be repaired?

It actually makes a big difference to the ambience in the cabin and the leather is softer for my arm to rest on.

Still need to get the other three Silverstone door cards on and swap the passenger side for the better condition one I now have. Then it'll just be dyeing the rear upper seat backs to complete the transformation.

Boarding Le Shuttle after 1,800 miles around France over the last two weeks in the E91 325i. The giveaway is the 1 million dead bugs now plastered over the car.

Aside from French fuel prices currently, all was well until we were passing Paris on the way home. In cruise control at 80mph, this lot lit up all at once:

My wife was adamant it had something to do with being heavily-laden with wine (the car, not me - well not at that precise moment).

This is a new one for me. Basic research from the passenger seat suggests busted wheel speed sensor as best-case scenario, reluctor ring/wheel bearing as moderate-case, ABS control unit as worst-case. Basic research also suggests I'm not alone with this.

The punchline is that I was planning to buy a BMW extended warranty when I got home rotate

Good chance it's simply a wheel speed sensor, that will throw all of those faults. Get the codes read to confirm which wheel is the issue. Sensors are not overly expensive on these, £30-40 for a Bosch or ATE sensor.

As above, the sensors aren’t expensive. If the rings are a bit corroded, a small spacer can wok well.

Had a really busy afternoon mucking around with cars….

I managed to change the white shifter bush and fit the Z3 shifter to shorten the throw. The old one was a sod to get out so get mullered.

After that, I changed the gearbox oil which was rancid.

I then filled it with Redline oil. The shift a thing feels much nicer….just need to remove the CDV and change the gearbox mounts.

The diff oil was dine next after removing the underbody brace. The old stuff didn’t look to manky.

Next up was the engine oil; the old filter was nailed.

The cage had come away from the cap and no amount of swearing / fiddling could get the two back together.

I still had the cap that I’d swapped on my 335i so I dug that out, popped on a new filter and filled it with Millers 5W 30 oil.

The A/C chap came out and diagnosed the issue as the condenser which is probably the best outcome. It’ll be interesting to see his quote, but I may do it myself and just it it filled.

I then removed the nearside rear arch liner….it’s a bit crusty under. Luckily even the reality bud looking rust is still solid. Looks like I’ll be removing both arch liners and side skirts this summer, cleaning all of the crap out, treating the rust and repainting it. Joy. At least the hidden stuff doesn’t need to be pretty.

The 335i then got a bit of love in the form of a wash, it looked well in the fading sun.

I’ll be removing the rear arch liners from this too having seen the 330i. Hopefully it’ll be a bit cleaner so it’ll just be cleaning and protecting.

Made a big difference, very worthwhile.

Quick check for codes this morning threw these out:

29 Dynamic stability control MK60 E5
2 errors
5DEC: 5DEC - Info. FLR (driving power reduction) activated
5DB2: 5DB2 - Speed controller pulse wheel rear left periodic monitoring.

Seems to be the rear left then! Will probably replace sensor and cross fingers it's not something else.

Busy day there Sam thumbup

Doing the interior trim & clean Saturday knocked me sideways, so didn't do anything yesterday (on the car); might give it a good wash tomorrow if I've enough energy... rolleyes

Thanks, I’m pleased with it. Feels more in keeping with the lemon leather than the silver.
