Apart from the massacring of your wallet, how’s it driving?Fermit said:
Absolutely spot on. As so much of the arse end drive components have been replaced it required a 4 wheel alignment, if there is any silver lining it is that now the need to do that (was planned) is negated. I gave the thing hell driving it home. Speed limits may have been broken
Good to hear it. Did they not sort the alignment after replacing parts? I had previously blamed the annoying resonance I was experiencing on my modified exhaust. I couldn’t believe how much annoying noise that dud bearing was making.

Xenons, a question. Today the drivers side Xenon has gone. I presume the bulb alone can't be replaced in isolation? Could it be symptomatic of anything easy fix, say a fuse, or a knackered plug? Does anybody know of any where/one who repairs them? (split open unit, swap xenon bulb?)
It's P/N 6942740. Found one on ebay at £160. The only two cheaper, one has a cloudy lens, the other has a snapped attachment bracket. Are they plug & play, IE just undo/plug new in = it working?

Do you mean the bulbs blown? If so it should be a straight forward swap out, you probably need a D1S xenon bulb of your choice - access will either be via the wheel arch, or if you're lucky, you can get to it via the engine bay. I'm sure Sam or someone similar will be along to confirm how to access it bestIt's P/N 6942740. Found one on ebay at £160. Did it change colour at all?
If you mean the headlight itself has failed; what are the issues/are all the bulbs not working etc?

The bulb isn't on, and from today (which prompted me to check) I've got a bulb warning icon coming up after starting the car. I didn't note any colour change prior?Did it change colour at all?

Change the bulb first and go from there
Standard Osram D1S xenon bulb: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/386435253862?itmmeta=01...
Or their Nightbreaker bulbs: https://www.amazon.co.uk/OSRAM-INTENSE-brightness-...
They're not cheap; but don't fit any eBay/Amazon special as they won't last 5mins and you'll be replacing them again
I would recommend Lunex as they're UK made and from the correct quartz glass; but seem to be out of stock everywhere!
I have a set of their 4300k (factory colour) bulbs here, brand new / unused if you'd like to buy those); can soon pack them and send them to you. Email me (click on my profile name and 'email' me) if you want them

Been looking for some different alloys for the e39 today, seems nothing fits them. Bugger
Depends on what you want to spend etcYou can also look at the likes of E9x alloys and use 12-15mm hubcentric spacers to make them fit properly etc
BMAutosport have a great range; but it is all down to the offsets; but very few come ready to fit the E39s 74.1 centre bore now unless you go for the likes of Apex / BBS etc
Which alloys do you have fitted now?

Style 33s, might just paint them tbh.You can also look at the likes of E9x alloys and use 12-15mm hubcentric spacers to make them fit properly etc

Was going to get some 32s but none local at a reasonable price.

Had them for my winter wheels on my sapphire black 530i Sport - like driving on 4 balloons but they were superb winter tyres
A set of Style 89s would be lovely; they suit the SE so well IMO; but so do 17" Style 32s! But £900 for Style 89s is just a rip off IMO
I quite like Style 81s too: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/235438744945?itmmeta=01...
