Sounds like the bulbs just gone pop then; it could be the ballast as well, but that'd be sods law

Change the bulb first and go from there

Standard Osram D1S xenon bulb: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/386435253862?itmmeta=01...

Or their Nightbreaker bulbs: https://www.amazon.co.uk/OSRAM-INTENSE-brightness-...

They're not cheap; but don't fit any eBay/Amazon special as they won't last 5mins and you'll be replacing them again

I would recommend Lunex as they're UK made and from the correct quartz glass; but seem to be out of stock everywhere!

I have a set of their 4300k (factory colour) bulbs here, brand new / unused if you'd like to buy those); can soon pack them and send them to you. Email me (click on my profile name and 'email' me) if you want them
Just purchased a standard Osram bulb as per your link, let's hope that sorts it!

I'd do both pal for peace of mind; it'd be sods law the other fails soon after

Here, RN, we're more skint than a fking skint thing! Ergo, I'll stick to replacing the one for now, and hope that sod is fast asleep.

I do like a set of Style 33s biggrin

Had them for my winter wheels on my sapphire black 530i Sport - like driving on 4 balloons but they were superb winter tyres thumbup

A set of Style 89s would be lovely; they suit the SE so well IMO; but so do 17" Style 32s! But £900 for Style 89s is just a rip off IMO

I quite like Style 81s too: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/235438744945?itmmeta=01...
They do look lovely in that slightly darker grey.

Woke up this morning with a flat on the rear and had to drive a few miles to the garage with about 5psi, 'kin 'mare. Still had air in it when i got to work.

They were a simple DIY refurb; flatted back with various grades of wet n dry and then rattle cans of primer, Rover Gunmetallic Grey and lacquer from Halfords IIRC - can get it all on Amazon cheaper

They were the winters and did a superb job; I had 19" LMs via BMAutosport for summers... I never ran 19s on an E39 after that; just too big IMO

Looked great; but bloody heavy!

They do indeed look great. You have made up my mind though, keeping the 33s and going to change the colour of them. Would be a shame to get rid of the original wheels considering they are retro and pretty light.

Agree; some decent tyres on them and they'll be spot on. Perfect for our crappy roads too!

I'm sure you could find another set or singles on eBay cheap enough and get them properly refurbed; I bought mine for £100 - found 2 locally and bought 2 on eBay

They're trying to be Style 42 / CSL style but they're not OEM as far as I can tell

BBS Style 42 were split rims; CSLs we all know go to the outer rim whereas yours have a deep'ish lip

Are there any markings on them?

From the good old days when tyres had a reasonable amount of sidewall! I guess I'm just getting old, but my E91 on its standard 18" wheels (and proper tyres, not even run flats) makes me wince every time I hit a pothole that I can't avoid. There's something appealing about balloon tyres and just gliding over the potholes without worrying about cracked wheels biggrin

They did just that too biggrin

We drove up to my folks property in the Highlands that year in fairly heavy snow from Glasgow across to Stirling, then it stopped and started heavy again Perth northwards; couldn't avoid potholes on the A9 (it was bad back then; much better now thankfully); as you said, it just took them with ease and I wasn't worried at all...

This was an hour or so after we'd parked up!

Couldn't have done that on 18s or 19s without wondering what I'd bent going through the potholes etc...

That's why in the end I stuck with 17" Style 66s on my E39 touring; they suited the car the best but we best for the road conditions too

Same with my F31 in sticking with the 18s (smallest I can go due to the Brembo brakes etc); tyres have decent sidewalls and take the roads perfectly

They weren't suited to my local roads unfortunately - the local B roads & country lanes are designed to make car wheels square laugh

I sold the E39 soon after that anyway; the call of a 7 series was too strong biggrin

Has anyone see the spinning BMW centre caps?
Yes, have them on mine.
