I've seen just one since they came out. I have to say, it looks a LOT better if the flesh than it does in photos, so much so that I'd happily have one if I could afford it and didn't have to consider the need to provide transport for my elderly parents.

Ive read on other forums that the impression people have had from dealers is that production will cease sooner than was anticipated.

Is it my lack of observation or are there fewer latest zed4 on the road compared with the previous models such as the E89 that I have and E85 previously?
Surely one of the boffin types on here can access the actual production numbers??

I hadn’t realised these were auto only, for some reason I thought you could still get the 2 litre with a manual box.

I’m probably looking at getting a convertible this summer and this had been on the list to look at. Sadly if you want a new car and a manual gearbox + convertible, there are fewer and fewer options.

Looking at anything from £30>60K ish, I have Mini JCW, Mustang and Boxster on the list at the moment. MX5 is too cramped for me.

I have a few second hand options on my list as well, but have I missed anything else new I should consider? (Not looking for track focussed options).

You can, except for the UK, where BMW has pre-determined that everyone wants autos. In their defence, their decision is based on sales figures; manuals make up a tiny percentage of sales.

Looking at used, applying a few filters in AT you also get Dodge Viper, BMW M4, Merc SLC and Jaguar F Type listed as available as a manual plus some much older exotics.

There's a blue M40i round the corner from me, looks brilliant.

Definitely fewer numbers being sold compared to e89, which sold in much lower numbers than the e85. It's just the current trend, accelerated by the fact it's more difficult to do this type of car on the same platform as all your other models and therefore not cost effective.

You never know, the trend might reverse in 10 years but it seems unlikely. Either way, numbers of 2 seater convertibles on the used market will continue decreasing and prices will go up. There's still plenty of demand out there.

There are two black ones that are parked on neighboring streets. Both have been around for over a year now. In fact, looking at them so regularly has warmed me up to this new shape Z4, even if it doesn't quite look like a BMW to me. They do seem quite low wide, which in itself is not a bad look.

But, if I had the cash and was looking for a 2 seater convertible I'd probably always end up choosing the Boxster
