Thanks for everyone’s help.

The 140i should be going on Friday but I’ve bought something a wee bit smaller than a 6; I’ve ended up with a 130i Limited Edition. Happy with the deal I’ve got both ways and the car has recently had Birds B1 suspension fitted.
Sounds good thumbup

Boooo!

We'll see you back at this thread in 6 months once you've decided that the 130 is too similar to the 140 and you really do want something different smile

Jokes aside, we all the know the 130 is a very decent car. Hope it serves you well.
Given how strongly my other felt about the 6, I’m not sore I could have dealt with the moaning! hehe For stemmed who doesn’t really care about cars
S, it evoked some rather strong opinions.

An E91 would have been ace but a well spec’d 330i is a unicorn.

I agree that 630i as a very competent package - and I like the sound of the I6, especially with roof down (e64). If going for the 630i instead of 650i try and find a car manufactured from 04/06 onwards. It has a revised N52N engine, and I believe aux-in as standard. I had to code mine and add the wire.

I popped over to see that 630i local to me as a back up in case the 130i is a turd.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/265155702479

It’s a lovely thing and is cosmetically very very good with just a couple of chips touched in. The interior is in fab condition and a really, really nice place to be especially with the sun roof. Interior is comically small in the back given the size of it.

It’s weeping slightly from the oil filter housing and I think it needs an alignment and possibly a suspension refresh (as far as I can tell from the history it’s all original).

My major concern is the HPFP which hadn’t been touched.

Drive ok, once out of town it feels a lot small. Felt huge pulling off the guys drive. Seemed to go ok, but slower than I was expecting but I have hit very used to my M140i. Gearbox felt pretty old school.

If the 130i isn’t as expected and I do a runner, I’d seriously consider this.

Does look like a nice example tbf!

Yes, rear room isn't great (if the front occupants are tall and have the seats a fair way back).

I just about managed with a baby seat.

Now my son is in an infant forward facing seat, much more room!

Great minds!

It’s a nice car, would need rear tyres because it’s on ditchfinders which were fired by the garage he bought it from.

He’s had loads of messages but I’m the only person who’s turned up. He’s already got his replacement (640d) so I’m sure there is some haggling to be done.

I could park the 130i inside the 6er! 😂

Even despite its age, it’s a lovely place to sit and really well made.

Exactly how I feel about the E65 7’er of the same age… Fantastic place to sit. So very well made and put together

Definitely highlighted how well they could make stuff. Felt better made than much of the modern stuff.

Loads of space up front but not great for my six year old.

Absolutely; everything had a weight to it and it fitted precisely... Quiet, no squeaks/rattles etc...

After test driving a few E61s; the E65 was leagues ahead IMO

In all honesty I found all of the interiors of that generation of BMW to be pretty well put together and long lasting - may not have felt as well built as the E46 generation, but they stay the course in my experience.

I only have a humble 1 Series, but even after 13 years and 156k miles, other than some flaking on the finish - which hasn't got any worse since I've had it - it still feels pretty solid.

My friends 125i is in 186k or something, but you’d never know looking at the interior. It’s been surprisingly reliable too.
