I have to agree re the looks, the first mock ups I saw were very much mini-X5, which looked great, so I was a little disappointed with the final car, but with the body kit fitted it looks less tonka toy IMHO and I think it's good that it's different to the X5.

The idea of a 4x4 that can tow a horse trailer out of a muddy field and a also a twin axle van trailer (for karting) up & down the motorway at speed, safely (trailer stability control was a + to me) and still hustle down the country lanes like a large sports saloon (think E39 5 series) was ideal for me.

Also thought (and was advised) about 'rock solid residuals'

Blimey, that's enough to put me off my dinner! Well, almost.

I've never really liked the X3, but am still lusting after an X5. I know it's not a PH type of car, but I think they're great. A hoot to drive as well, mainly because they can do things a car of that size and height shouldn't be able to.

I think you will find that almost all car salesmen say things like that, along with speccing up the car with every possible extra.

Spend less on cars - lose less when you trade it in.

Mate of mine lost 16% every year for three years on a bottom of the range Jag X type he bought - turned a 20K new motor into 12 K in three years.

Buying a new car is an expensive hobby. Try buying at 3-4 years old and let someone else worry about depreciation.
