Hi folks just bought a bmw 525i and the computer is throwing a wobbler it reads brake light failure (when the lights work fine) also it sometimes tells me the reg plate and low beam lights arn't working ,once again they work fine, any ideas?

What model version is it?

Hi alaws the car is a 525i se auto saloon 24valve.
It was manufactured in 1995 (M reg)5 speed.

that could be either an E34 or E39

1995 Is definately an E34 - E39 Not avail until 96 (To my knowledge) last of the E34 on '96 N/P and Early E39 on the 'P' plate also - hope that helps! As for the computer - past experience as shown that they go a little senile with age... I replaced the unit when mine failed (Dash side) and that cured it - I saw one on ebay the other day - dont know if its still on??? Could have a look and post link if it helps?

Check all correct wattage bulbs are in use.

Also make sure you've checked every single bulb.. including as you say, number plate bulbs and doubles (ie should there be 2 sidelights on each side at the rear?)
