I'm posting here to see if anyone else has experienced the same problems.

My fathers X-Plate 530d is repeatedly ending up with the windows down. As in, the car is left parked and locked up, then we return and the windows are all down. BMW have concluded he must be sitting on the keys etc. Not possible. When the cars locked the keys are left either in a jacket hanging up or on a desk, office or home.

I'm wondering if its something to do with the BMW fitted intelli-start system or maybe just a fault with the alarm system?

If he is defineitly not sitting on the key it could be a fault with the lock catch, an internal short circuit that is causing the 'comfort open' function to operate and open the windows.
You could get the 'comfort open' function switched off at 'Car Key Memory' to see if it stops it, if so then check the wiring to the drivers door lock catch, allthough it is most likely the catch itself I have had that fault before where moisture has got into the internal electronics causing sporadic short circuits.

How does one de-activate the comfort setting, is this a take it to a BMW dealership task?

Essentially, its a car specific problem, not a known issue that BMW should rectify?

Mine did this in a rainstorm. Boy was I pleased !

Get BMW to switch off the key fob function to lower the windows.

It worked for me - the key fob is the worst car of the car.
