Since the running costs of the M3 are too high, what like is the 330 Clubsport?

Don't know much about them but is it true they only come in two shades of blue and silver?

Comes with sport suspension, is this the same suspension as the M3?
Is it going to be able to compete with my Elise S2 135R on the track??

Thanks

G

I (for once) can speak with experience here.

I had a silver 330CS Auto for a while (See profile...)

A lovely car, a little rortier than the 330Ci Sport due to sound deadening removal, but basically the same car with different wheels and some black check trim.

To answer your questions, yes they come in Silver or Estoril, and no they don't have M3 suspension. Would they compete with a 135R - not in a million years.

To sum up from EVO - "FOR - Rich man's 330i. AGAINST - Not the poor man's M3 it could have been."

Oh, and I lost £12k in fourteen months in depreciation, which I why I now have a six year old 911. Cheaper to run!

I've got a 330ci Sport, to be honest I wish I'd gone for an E46 M3 really, fuel consumption is about the same (19mpg on my 330); insurance slightly dearer, although serving is much more expensive. But then it is 10* the car.

Gareth, there have been a couple of fairly recent threads regarding Clubsports, use the search facility for some more info.

For what it's worth my wife runs a 330 Clubsport auto, it's a lovely road car, but I should imagine you wouldn't see which way an Elise went on track.

My friend crashed his SLK last week and was given a brand new (2 miles on the clock) 330ci convertible. Fully loaded with TV - shame it could never get a picture.

Anyway, I had a drive. Exactly how I thought it would be. Not particulary quick, but nice to drive. Cornering would take a little getting used to coming from my car - seemed to roll hence why I was hoping the clubsport had the M3 setup.

Mine is a vert, roll can be sorted with a set of Eibach Pro-Kit springs and a AC Schnitzer 'Racing' strut brace. The coupe will always be sharper and stiffer, but you can make a vert better nevertheless. Add a supercharger is if its not powerful enough!

I also had a 330Ci Clubsport... went for it as I loved the estoril blue, front splitters and rear spoiler... overall a lovelly car. Certainly not an M3 though was more than quick enough 90% of time. Also easier to get a higher spec'd one than on the 330Ci sports. Get H&K uipgrade if at all possible, makes quite a difference to the stereo. Noise it makes is nicer than a standard 330ci...but not as nice as a M3.

Downside is the split rims wheels which corrode, I had one set replaced and second set were showing signs again at 1 year old. ohhh and front splitters rubbed on some of speed humps.

Only really got rid of it as I've a young kid and getting him in/out back was getting to be a pain. Wished I'd kept it now to be honest.
