Alternative to run flats?

I'm sure you've all heard the tale of woe before, "ooooh Sir, nail in the centre of the tread Sir, mmmmh, you know you can’t repair that Sir? aaaargh, that'll be £200 plus vat then Sir".
What have you guys done with an E60 M sport? replaced like for like or binned them and bought alternative rubber and a space saver + jack kit?
