he overcooked it out of the corner, overcorrected, fishtailed, span and went off. What's so difficult to understand?

You no doubt are a top class racing driver and don't make mistakes.

Maybe - but have raced there more times than I can remember and just saying it is a weird place to end up! Top marks for trying

It wasn't me, but then I have crashed at the Nurburgring in a place that astonished people, so I could probably have managed the same thing.

Looks a tad damp - You don't want to be going anywhere near the painted curbs in those condition let alone rid right up them big style. Lucky anyway - only a minor tap.

Cheers

If he'd had the nerve/balls he probably could have held the throttle on/eased off gently and rode out a beautiful slide.

Easier said than done though....

He had a good five seconds after the back end broke away to jump on the brakes, but he made the mistake of trying to ride it out.

Even if you're losing control, jumping on the brakes doesn't take any particular skill. He had ages and ages to take this option. Either he didn't recognise that he was losing control, or (more likely IMO) he didn't realise that he had a better option than just to keep fighting it.

Ooh I have gone of there in races (not that corner but the track in general - Druids is bugger for sucking you into the gravel - less lately though last two races there have been great) - but on a Trackday! Enthusiasm exceeding talent.

I was at brands that day- beautifully prepped CSL. He also had an in-car video set up, but somehow I doubt he'll be putting that footage on the web.
There were a couple of E30 M3s there that day that spun at the same spot, and ended up heading towards the barriers backwards- thankully they didn't make impact. Likewise last month a caterham (under instruction!)hit the same barriers in the same style.
I think it's a lot easier to lose it there than you may think.

Only if wet or tyres are shot (it must have been wet), you can run over the kerb an there is a grid type rubber mesh to go over, but in the dry I just can't see it - not on a track day anyway! Race maybe, Clearways is the easier one as goes off camber half way round and you have to wait for ever to get on the gas - everyone thinks there is something wrong with there car! But it is the same for everyone. I have also spun on the xist in a race! Still finished 4th.
