if you order now, you will be lucky to get one in 2009.

I've been on the dealer waiting list for three years and have been promised delivery Sept 2007.

Nah wish I did have Pics.
Buying this car is a bit speculative having not seen pics and driven it etc.. but after the experience of BMW and the current M3 the gamble hopefully wont be a bad one ! (fingers crossed)

All I've been told tolday is that it may be a Hardtop Convertible with the Roof Closing similar to the Merc SL etc..and the Engine is a V8.
Shape will be similar to the new 3 series twin turbo according to my dealer.
400 BHP is the figure thrown around at the moment .
This is all subject to confirmation though.
As a guideline the M6 convertible is a year ahead of its estimated delivery time (again according to my dealer ) so hopefully the m3 will follow this timespan.

I have a deposit down, but no idea of the build slot.... I do know I'm No. 7 on the list and they expect some drop outs, so hopefully will get one of the 1st woohoo

I had the E-46 and loved it, so expect even more from the new one. I lost out as I was not on the waiting list and paid a premium and then lost out big time when I sold it. Not doing that again, so got on the new waiting list well early...

I was number 7 on my dealer's list for an M5 and it took a year after they first came out for me to get one.

I am number 1 at dealer, gonna swop to next CSL though. Current CSL just to good to chop in for next M3. Step backwards for me if I did. Any other CSL owners feel the same?

I'm first on my dealer's list for the next CSL (if they make one, which I don't expect until 2011/11).

As a current CSL owner I have both an M3 and E92 CSL on order. If the M3 is good then I will buy it and use as a daily driver, but I'll still keep my CSL. I may trade it in for the next CSL, but it will be at least 5 years old by then and may not be worth the hassle of selling it, so I may still keep it.

The CSL is such a unique driving experience, whereas the E46 M3 is more easily replaced. I would buy the E92 M3 because I'm intrigued by how a 4 litre V8 will feel and not sure I'd like to wait until the CSL version to find out.

Charlie, I find it hard to believe that it would be that far away, which would mean 8 years after the previous CSL had ceased production. Given how M GmbH has gone on record saying that the CSL is exactly the kind of car they intend to make in future, I can't see why they would wait 5 years from now before fulfilling that promise. I could be wrong though.

Steve, I was just calculating based on the E46 M3's launch in autumn 2000 and arrival on the market in 2001 withe CSLs being delivered in 2003. On the same basis, if the E92 M3 is launched in autumn 2007, the CSL would be delivered in 2010. Of course, they don't have to stick to the same timetable.
