I have 2002 330ci sport, with standard fit sat nav. Everything is fine except that the TMC element don't work!.

It's been to BMW, they say its fine! but I still don't get any TMC messages

TMC on the bottom of the screen starts red then goes to white, the disc installed is 2006 - 02 CD. RDS is set on the radio but still scratching my head.

Don't know if this is related but when traffic news cuts in on radio (frustrating around drive times!) it cuts out within a second or two.

Any ideas?

Is it a CD or DVD?

I think only the DVD version is TMC enabled in the UK.

As suggested ony the DVD versions support TMC, these were introduced around mid 2003, check your drive, if it has the DVD symbol on it then buy the 2006/7 DVD if it doesn't then I beleive it will never work

ps the TMC symbol needs to go green

Guys you can get TMC enabled CDs - I use a BMW / Navtech Disk which works perfectly.

Don't bother to get the dealer sold CDs as those don't have TMC enabled unless you want to spend £120.

I got mine via E-mule and burnt it myself.

My '02 CD sat-nav had TMC, but I had to buy a new TMC-enabled disc.

I have a 2001 330Ci Sport and upgraded my Sat Nav software to Version 27 and have one of the new 2006/07 map discs. The TMC symbol now goes green (which I assume means it is working?).

Does the RDS have to be switched on for it to give me traffic reports? Do I actually need to have a route entered into the Nav system or should TMC be permanently on and give me traffic updates at all times?

Any help much appreciated.

It should just be on, with symbols on the map showing congestion, road works etc... also, there is a 'message list' within in the 'information' menu, which lists problems in text form, showing the most local first.

Check the following- press the 'info' button- is it showing TMC=Classic ? If its saying TMC=off then you will need to access that menu and turn it on- it should find a station automatically.

Next, from the map display, press the input knob to bring up a menu- one of these will be 'traffic information'. Make sure 'RDS-TMC' and 'message list' are white. If not, highlight RDS-TMC and click on it. This should bring it all into life.
