Prices are all over the place. I bought mine a year ago and 'might' be in the market to sell...

There are a few cars out there and from experience I can tell you there are some absolute heaps of shoite .... and some gems.

No other mechanical issues to watch out for over the standard M3 (VANOS)... BUT ....make sure that the car is a genuine GT and has all the genuine spoilers, interior and engine .... yes a few were reportedly taken out and replaced with standard 3.0l engines! The UK and European cars are pretty much the same apart from the European cars had carbon fibre interior trim instead of the UK car.

With any 10 year old car, they need to have had some serious TLC and GT's are no exception. In 12 months I've almost spent as much as the car cost me ...

See www.m3gtregister.com/ for more info.

No need to worry about the Vanos, its only the double Vanos on the 3.2's. The single Vanos on the 3ltrs is as solid as it is on any other BMW.

Are the steering racks the same as the standard car?

Someone told me the throttle bodies are bigger. Is this true?

Yep the throttle boddies are larger, same as the Evo and it has the steering from the Evo I understand. Plus it has different cams and a twin oil pick up.

There is no such car as the 'GT2'. This car is the 'Imola Individual' which was a run out model and the only comparison to the GT is the rear wing which I don't even think is ajustable. It is an Evo with red paintwork, red interior, front corner splitters and the rear spoiler. Great colour though ....

from what i have heard the m3, in 3.2 form is a much torqier one than the 3.0, so how does the gt feel?
i am either gonna buy a 1997 ish Evo or a GT, now i dont know which to get....

I have seen 3 of the Gt's in the pistonheads classifieds in the last week, they have ranged between 6.5k and 8k
from a drivers point of view which is better to live with, the car will see some track use and maybe the odd ring trip too.

Thanks and sorry for all the questions

The Evo defo has more torque but for the same price with a GT you are getting a limited edition car with a great engine. The GT only had a slight power increase over the 3.0 but as standard, mine felt more rapid than my old 3.0 M3 did. A lot of the action in the GT is at the top end of the rev range, so wringing its neck is a joy.

GT all the way!

The only down sider to the GT as I see it is the green paint shows scrathes, and the coloured leather panels scrath eaisily, I had a GT2 and the red leather was a nightmare. But I must say a clean one looks the business.

thanks, i am now looking at a 1996 evo with some aluminium doors on it, so we will see.
The GT's seem difficult to get a nice one for reasonable money
I do really like them because of the fact they are a little different.,
Thanks for the inputs and if anybody knows of any for sale let me know.

thanks
