The rolling road correct for power at the wheels to give power at crank which is what generally is always quoted. So in your case you've scaled it up twice. 87% is doing very well for a RWD car - seem unlikely to be that good.
?

Couldn't really decipher what your post meant.
I meant, even though the rolling road directly measures power at the wheels, almost always the number quoted has been corrected to be the crank number. So you cannot apply your 1/87% scaling again - it's already been done! Every rolling road I've been to does this - because everybody seems to quote crank numbers. Of course, the corrections are probably done differently, but then the rolling road calibrations vary too.

So it seems some of the M power cars vary quite a lot with their power outputs, how do the non M power cars compare? i.e E36 325i and E36 328???????

[quote=craigAMV8]Just sold an 04 plate m3 smg. Had DMS do some work on it and it then produced 373bhp, took it on the rabbit run for the last 3 years (check out their site www.rabbit-run.co.uk its an amazing event)and it did a true gps'd 176mph. I have just bought a V8 Vantage wich is lovely, but not a quick as the M3, I miss it a bit actually.

Pricy!

From the bottom of the bog reading magazine basket Ive found issue 66 of Total BMW.

261.5 @ 5582.

Mine was 288lbft at 5891rpm.. Strange! Mine had Gruppe M, otherwise STD.

Power = (torque x rpm) / 5252

Basically BHP is simply a calculation of what torque the engine produces x rpm.

Ive heard these power claim rumours myself, which along with the vanos problems with the evo's is the reason I opted for the 3.0ltr non evo E36. Out of interest does anyone know if the 286bhp power claims on this engine were optimistic?

The 3.0 M3 power output is nearer to the claimed figure than the evo's.

How can manufacturers get away with not givingaccurate power outputs for their cars? having looked into getting a cerbera I am amazed that their 4.5 V8 is well known for being down on its quoted output of 420BHP, how come??

Whats more interesting is that the S54 results are exaclty what we got with them, but some of the S50 are a little higher (10bhp) or so.

Guess its just a different spread of cars
