buy an e39 M5 without a warranty?
I know some of this ground has been covered recently on this forum but I am looking to gain as much info as possible from people who've had first-hand experience of the cars.
I have heard all the horror stories, 12k for a new engine, 7.5k for the vanos etc, as well as the generally high running costs.
But they are getting so cheap now, it's so darn tempting!
Is the fact they are so cheap reflective of how much of a liability they are without a warranty?
Or are the potential problems overstated and people are being scared away from what is essentially a sound car when looked after properly?
Also, what are the BMW extended warranty conditions and what experiences have people had having M5s services at specialists?
I'm just looking to start a bit of general debate here so all opinions, experiences and comments welcome!
