BMW Problem!!!!!!!!!

Does this ring a bell?
I bought a BMW 320td se cpmpact 4 years old with 55k on the clock.
I lost power and the car started shaking. It would appear that the inlet valve has collapsed and of course damaged the piston etc.
Would appear that BMW do not repair one cylinder but replace the engine. Has anyone had this problem? (I Have had Nissans for years and no problems, think I might go back)
