dare I say it? RE:335i
Discussion
A 335i ripped it past my house a couple of days ago. I heard it well before I saw it.
The road I live on has a BMW dealer at one end, and a vehicle storage depot at the other. So inevitably the delivery boy oiks give the cars rather a lot of stick en-route. I'd not care, only I use that chain of dealers, and its not nice knowing that they rag brand spanking new cars long before customers gets anywhere near them. I thought of calling to complain. But didnt feel like being a whiney git.
Did look very quick though!
Im still not keen on the looks mind, 4 door or coupé. But I bet they are absolutely great to drive.
Cheers, P

Peak torque from just 1,300 rpm tells you that the car is in a low state of tune.
A German BMW/Mercedes tuner i know told me that the arrangement of the turbos will ultimately keep the tuning potential down, but 375 bhp is possible with some remapping and other small mods.
Assuming the low down power is not harmed too much, that will make a for a rapid car.

I have to say I quite fancy one of these based on my initial impression of the 3 Series we picked up on Friday. I think it would be quite a nice replacement for the Boxster in about 16 months time, as I am not certain how expensive the new M3 will be, plus I am guessing it will be quite some time before you can get your hands on one if you havent already ordered.

I have a 335i SE auto - it replaced my Z4 M Roadster last week. The 335 feels the quicker car.
The low down torque is amazing, as a result the acceleration is incredible. Kick down is like going into hyperspace! It handles very well, although being on 19" wheels it is sometimes a bit crashy on the worst pot holes.
On the flip side it does look very good on the 19s - some of the smaller wheels make the car look slightly under-tyred. The car has drawn a huge amount of attention - for something that is relatively understated it gets a lot of second looks.
