I've long been an admirer of the angel-eye headlights fitted to the facelift E39, and now that I have an E39, would like to upgrade my pre-facelift lights to have angel-eye loveliness.

I've seen a number of "genuine BMW parts" Hella kits around for about 200-300 notes on eBay.

What's the SP with these? Are they a decent quality kit? Would fitting such a kit have deleterious effects on the electrics of my 528i?

Yes and yes....

Take a look on http://forum.bmw5.co.uk/ and do a search.... not sure of the ins and outs involved, but I understand that you have to be really careful with what you fit and where. If you go LED's then you need separate boxes to ensure the correct voltage and Xenons are a nightmare. Thought about it myself, but I am going for the OEM look - i.e. completely standard and shit... hehe

Sounds like a job for my local independent, then.
