Yes, but because he went from this M5:

To this M6:

Incendentally, the new V10 M6 is quicker than the new V10 M5 (e60).
See the video clip links I posted earlier for a race between the two.

Is the M6 quicker due to it being more aerodynamic?

M6 is lighter by some 150 kg or so (trick carbon roof + plastic wings, etc).

Dino, I'm not getting rid of the M5 because I wasn't sure the coupe would be sufficient for jollidays and luggage, despite it's generously dimensioned rump store.

Plus, as with all the big Ms, each seems to have it's own distinct take on motoring blitzkreig and with the E39, I have melded with it to levels of which The Borg would be proud.

Went for a moonlight hoon in the big 6: it's just volcanic - there seems to be little need (in the non-perfectly dry, at least) to come out of P400 mode, especially when the effect of the vriable dampers (EDC) is so marked.

It's a cornucopic blipfest of tumultuous screaming snarlcult and if the M6 had been around in Saxon times that geezer at Sutton Hoo would've had one of these instead of an upturned Norse dingy in his ceremonial mound.

You will soon get to the stage where you do notice the relative lack of grunt in P400 - especially when accelerating uphill. I use P400 around town, but nowhere else.

Zod, I can imagine what you're saying: clear sight, dry, sunny day, a Texan in Downing Street and a 3% flat rate tax regime capped at £1500 - the surefire recipe for total unleashment and torn banshee.

We can but dream.

Well, if you took the bastid out, why didn't you set the rudder for 90 degrees and head east?

Why, I'd have even bought you 6 nuggets, you dreadful little man.

PS - wheres me E34?

Why mess around with P400?? Thats for pu$$ys.

It's been widely tested that the difference between regular driving in P400 & P500 is less than 1MPG, so unleash those horses & stop being a big girl.

Also driving with DSC fully on is for pu$$ys, however the difference here is a dead pu$$y is no good to anyone, so with the lovely slippy roads currently, get that DSC wound up to the MAX.

Enjoy.

Ps. Yes the performance difference between M6 & M5 is down to the weight with the M6 having a smaller body & the C/F roof plus it's of course a little more aerodynamic.
