I think what Dino is trying to say is STOP SHOUTING!!!
As to the damp boot, no idea. Possibly get someone into the boot (not a corpse though) with a torch, and someone else on the outside with a hose to trace the leak.
The solution still remains the same: stop pissing in the boot!!
Seriously, when I boought my 330 it had some damp patches in the boot. I let it dry out and ythen kept an eye it. It turns out the valet guy at the garage I bought it from was cvnt and rinsed the car off while the boot wasn't closed properly.
Are you sure its actuall leaking or maybe its just had something spilled in it. If you short on volunteers to climb in the boot then dry it out and run a hose over it see if there is in fact a leak.
Also, is there plug in the bottom of the spare wheel well. Some cars had this to drain water out. If it has this and its missing it may getting water in from there...?

I've never had this problem on any of the 840's I've owned but it was/is a very common problem on some BMW (e.g the E28 5-Series). It is usually due to either water getting in around the rear light gaskets or the rubber boot seal on those cars.
One way I did hear once of checking is to get inside the boot with a bright torch, in a dark garage and get your assistant to see if the can see light escaping anywhere or get your assistant to hose the car with water under pressure and see if you can see it coming in. Just be sure you don't have any issues with your central locking first!

last night after many scotches and in a drunken stuper i covered myself in talc locked myself in the boot (the light inside does go out when its shut!!!) and of course you all know what happend next..more water was added to the boot.. . Luckily i had brought my pet hampster "hambels" who has a very keen sence of smell... hambels was able to fit through the drain hole and ran to the front door of my house where my dog "naughty" happend to be waiting after his nightly stroll... naughty and hambels had some sort of animal conversation and naughty must have come up to the boot and pushed the button with his paw or nose and i escaped.. i think ill go to BMW and see how they do it.... really thanks for all your crazy ideas!!
