good to hear it has been found and no damage.

never nice to have ones car taken and I guess you maybe feeling mixed about the car.

you mus tbe asking how they got the car after we chatted and maybe worth investigating the local dealers to see if there are other keys floating around?

CSL wheels next perhaps?

Also, have the suspension checked out as if they have used suspension components as jacking points they could be bent.

Maybe have a look on Ebay for some recently advertised M3 wheels... scratchchin

Glad you got it back. Consider yourself very lucky.

Someone across the stree from me was watching telly 1:30 am. 2 scrots kicked her front door in and demanded her keys. They nicked off with her car within minutes. I'd just got time to get my jeans on and run outside, whilst the miss's called the fuzz. Luckly she was ok, but very distressed. She had a tracker on it. The cops found it about 10 mins later front had hit a kerb and stuffed the front. They have the scrotes in the nick. So top effort for the cops. They arrived within minutes.
Three cars and a helicopter. Considered the agression show in the attack, i think a very appropriate response.

So feeling very tired at work at the moment. Spent most of saturday night, sunday morning awake!

C'mon folks, let's have some theories about how the car was stolen.

What was the milometer difference?

Could you say the say had been driven, or is the low-loader theory holding water?

A friend had an escort cosworth stolen in this fashion a few years back...... in the middle of the day from a busy car park at Bluewater. Not one persion paid attention.

Lakeside in Essex is a theft hotspot, when I had my own car I was always careful about where I left it. I sold it after the R32 paranoia became too much and now have a company car.

Car has only just arrived at BMW Wimbledon. Insurance company thought it would be a good idea to leave it in a dodgy area for 2 extra days with no wheels.

The car has only done about 25 miles extra.

Low loader is the looking to best option at the moment, but i still dont see how that was possible in the circumstances. We shall soon find out

Surely if it has done an extra 25 miles someone has a key and driven it?

No need for a low-loader unless it had to be picked up and taken to a dodgy garage for reprogramming with a new key. This looks highly unlikely as the car has been recovered, minus the wheels.

had my e36 m3 evo stolen from my drive, they broke in and nicked the keys. tracker on it so car was found an hour or so later but interior hacked up by scum to find the tracker.
Best of it was the police know who did it, he is well known prestige car blagger, who usually pays scroats to steal the car and bring it to him to 'dispose' of. Funniest comment came from a PC who said i hope he steals a flash car off someone connected in the underworld - he will be sorted out then!!! great so i have to hope a criminal sorts out another criminal rather than the police! i asked for the guys name but no surprise they wouldnt give it me!!

I’d say you were right. Spare key from somewhere, open it up (only sound will be the locks disengaging), push it down the road out of sight and drive away.

Someone has a key for your car, stimo, and knows where it was kept. Surely that narrow it down.

Do you have a cleaner (don't start Carrera2....) who might have borrowed your spare for a day and get her boyfriend to clone it?

I do have a cleaner, but she has been cleaning my house for 4 years (and for the guy i bought the house from for 2 years before that) and she has had access to a lot of keys for some much more expensive cars than my M3 in that time.

Still waiting to hear from BMW, should be today.

Make sure you get the dealer to change the full set of locks. If they have the keys and they know where your car is there is a good chance they might come back for another new set of wheels.

It could also be that the thieves were slightly more sophisticated and had this lockpicking set: http://video.google.com/videoplay?doc

Quite scary...

BMW have quoted £8k for the work that needs to be done and 3 weeks to get it done. They have no idea how the car was stolen or started. The insurance company have agreed to the £8k. Im going to go to the dealership when i get back to London and find out what the breakdown of the £8k is.

I was thinking about the locks situation. How much would BMW charge to change the locks around ?
Was planning on the selling it and maybe getting a CSL till M6 prices come down to around £45-£50k

If the locks are expensive then maybe use a steering wheel lock to put them off ?

Guys, my Silver M3 SMG Convertable got sotlen from my driveway in south west London last night, reg - FY02 ZPD, it currently got a hard top on it. Anyone see's it or has info please e-mail cjstimson@yahoo.com , i know its a long shot.
Update (changed username)

My BMW M3 that was stolen above was found today living the high life in sunny Cyprus. Its in perfect condition and the guy who owns it bought it in good faith. Police have apparently found 50 - 80 cars out there with a high chance they were nicked from the UK.

It got nicked twice by the way. Once it as recovered and repaired, 2nd time, well it went on its hols

I hope you've not been too inconvenienced by it all.

You still after an M6 coupe?

A Turkish Cypriot mate of mine has a lot of family out in Cypress and he reckons it's got the highest concentration of top end BMW's than anywhere else. I reckon Dubai will give it a run for it's money. I ought check this out when back at work.

Nonesense.
I've been out there a lot in recent years. BIL/SIL moved out there.
You do get surprised at some of the cars you see out there but its nothing like a high concentration.

No, i bought an new S5 instead. Really liked it, but sold it due to getting a free BMW X5 company car as part of some consultancy work im doing for a previous employer. So no need for the S5

My insurance company paid out on the M3 quickly and it was ver easy. They also gave me a very good price !
