Hey all,

Just pondering on a couple of things here, I know Iguana used to run a 4.0l V8 engined E36, and was just wondering what the story would be behind doing this sort of conversion?

Do the engines just swap? etc etc

Anyone able to offer any info?

My reasoning being is that it is increasingly becoming diffcult to find clean original M3's especially in the colour scheme I currently have. Hence I'm thinking aloud on what would be involved in doing an engine swap?

Cheers

Neil

Neil - I did consider this with my E30 325i.

It's certainly possible, but it will be expensive - a warrantied 4.4 litre M62 engine and 6 speed gearbox will be about £3.5K (and that will have 60,000 - 10,000 miles). Labour charge at a guess maybe £2-3K. Ancillaries such as exhaust modifications, suspension, brakes perhaps £1-2K. Numbers are based on the research I did at the time.

I decided it would be more cost effective to find a 540i and keep the 325i in standard form.

Roy at www.ca-automotive.com would be able to help you if you wanted someone else to do the work.

Regards, Gary

We used to have a V8 Alpina B10 E36 come into our dealer, It's a tight squeeze, I know I had to do a clutch on the b****er

Try contacting Alpina or Google it and see what comes up.
