Don't forget to also get them to look at the lack of thrills on Acceleration, brakes are poor with car weaving about while braking, steering was like driving a speed boat in a harbour at 6 knot, Clutch is on the limit of needing to be replaced at 44,000 and the speakers, and please don't also forget to tell them that you're an F1 driver rolleyeslaugh

I have owned a 2001 330ci sport for two yrs and i think its lovely to drive everytime i get in it whether i go to work or decide to go out for a weekend joy ride. I have had a E36 325i as well and don't really get where your coming from by saying they are boring cars OP. Every Audi that i have driven that hasn't be an RS has bored me to death inside, outside and performance.

There my rant over ahh feels better hehe

Good job its a forum and not you saying these things face to face, carm down FGS

Seriously thats how the car performs. Yes the A3 should be half the car the 3 series! This why i am say gosh whats going on with this 3 series it was a great car and still is, But i have had bad luck and havent driven a good one.

Hi Steve,

Read your post with interest, I think your mates car is a dud, I've had loads of cars in the last 20 odd years and have had an e30 325 Sport as well as the e46 330ci sport and can say that the 330ci sport is heads above the e30 Sport.

My 330ci Sport goes like a greased weezle and sticks to the road like glue, the ride is not as hard as some cars I've driven, and the brakes work very well.

From what you are describing I'd say the front wishbones/ball joints have gone (common problem), this will cause a vibration/juddering and weaving while under braking, and I'd say the front discs and pads have had it as well if the brakes are not up to much, (44k hard miles will use them up pretty quick).

Sounds to me like the car has not been looked after properly, this will effect its performance and overall driving experience.

As for the alarm, sound like a fault of some sort, You did'nt leave the rear windows open did you?

Just my 2 pence worth...

Try a 335d, that will wake you up.

Edited by roger482 on Sunday 15th April 16:15

Sorry I meant I wouldnt fault!

Did get to drive the 335d because my wife just didnt like the gearbox and seats when she had a 318 her back started to hurt her and so when test driving the 320 330d they did have any lumber support and so she was affraid the cars will bother her back again, she covers 35,000 miles a year so i wasnt going to be for those 2 cars athou the 330d was OK it had good torque and power so yes your 335d would be a bonus to the 3.0l

Don't assume that your car represents all that is BMW - your fighting an uphill struggle here - BMWs are awesome for a reason, I was a VW man through and through until I 'tried' mine, and now, I'll never go back...

Take it back, moan and get it sorted.

Then go buy one with a bigger engine

I can safely say that my 5-series E60 is the best car I've ever owned. It may not have the build quality and finish as my old Lexus, and it doesn't have the edge of the seat handling as the Evo or Impreza. It certainly doesn't have the class of a Jag (not the new ones though cos they look pregnant!), and it'll never get as many looks as the Tuscan.

But... it is still the most grin inducing car I've ever owned! evil

Agreed the 5 series is best in its class!

Lets get this straight? You've driven one apparently bad car. From this you deduce that BMW's are rubbish & create a thread entitled - I shit you not - "I feel sorry for 3-series owners" in the BMW forum. As if to imply that all 3 series owners are dumb fools who've fallen for marketing hype of a crap car.
Then you feign indignant surprise when people rebuke what you've said as being a load of misinformed twaddle. You've implied you're some kind of driving supremo as if this should elevate your opinion, but have failed to quantify what makes you a driving god..... think about it.

Surprising amount of brand-loyalty towards the not-so-little-these-days 3er from us outside-laners

In fairness to Shelbysteve, I think the point he was trying to make - historically a 3 series was at least twice the car that anything else of a comparable size was - does have some relevance.

These days, a combination of the FWD brigade (Audi et al) upping their game massively over the last 10 years, and BMW progressively sanitizing the wayward characteristics of the E21 and E30, has resulted in the relative driving experiences becoming pretty marginal for most people.

The reason I called you a Moron is quite simply your posts are utter rubbish, none of them make sense, why don't you try reading what you've written, its got nothing to with BMW's, its to do with the way you are spouting all this crap, and we're still waiting for you to explain why your driving skills are different to the average person?

How can one explain driving skills especially me and my spouting crap! You Know your a race driver its a gift. Iam crap at CVs too.

I started riding trials bikes at the age of 6 ended up doing national championships, did a motorcross and got first on the first outing, i thought that was easy and enjoyed it for fun but professional trails was more of a buzz doing things like kickstart and going away to do national in yorkshire for weekends, but always had a crosser for fun. I worked for John welch that did Rallycross, i had my first 3 years of working for him and the best work time too going to all the meeting work on the car night and day preparing it, he saw that i was a farm boy that self tought my driving technic's and john a tought me moves in Gartrac Escorts, I once got the sac working for a car trader because a jelious man called Dave Coin that raced in many claases including F3000, but also in the car trade came to purchase a Porsche 911 carrera from my boss and said he had seen and raced against the car a week earlier and he couldnt catch it yet he was in a 911 turbo, I lost my job but it was the best thing that happen to me as i then started my own business Valeting and sell cars and anytime i was at an Auction i got respecked from all the trader including Ian roberton that did group A rally driving I did alot of business with him and he trusted me driving his cosworth, and he tried very hard to get me to drive for a Ford Dealer in the 1992/3 RS2000 rally challenge, in the end i ended up teaching the driver the movers they needed to use in a gravel stage that left foot braking for faster cornering, hand brakes turns, and then for the tarmac stage they needed to know how to the 360 turns farward and reverse 360 turns. I loved trails and any bike come to think about it buy Driving car at it limit felt even more natural.

Ive grown up with Robert Collard whos now driving in the porsche carrera cup also raced in BTCC, since we were 10 we have had many races in go carts. building hotrods with him when he raced in the toyota starlets. He and my Bro near killed them selves once trying to race me and lost on control smashing his car into a ditch at i ended up repairing. as i waited for them a half mile down the road he came down dragging the suspension and NSF wheel under the car.

Why didnt i race you ask. Because i started you own business at a very young age and that became more important untill 2000 when i came home one evening got the chores done then went out for a walk with my now wife and came out of a lane from a field and a drunken idiot lost control of his car at around 100 mph and slid towards us on the pavement and i just managed to push my wife out of the way of the path of the car but got struck myself at the cars speed of 50 to 60 mph. it was a F=ing Audi 80 convertible so no i am not an Audi fan either if you ask.

So the last 6 years ive been rebuilding myself from being a smashed up wright off, let alone losing my trading detailing business. And now I have lost the chance too race cars, but i am getting stronger as i have had to live out days and days of rehab at the Gym and the only race my goal is to do a half triathalon next month and to buy a stand JetSki again as i used to race them for 4 years back in 89 to 93, i got back on one and it was like ridng a bike, i am hooked.

Oh and sorry if you think my sentance's are crap, i have gone back and read them and had a laugh. its because i have short term memory and suffer from dyslexia injuries partly to blame.

Why do you need to take the piss out of me. also I am no troll or Clown or anything like that sometimes i think ill send a bit of time on line but something always crops up as i have to much going on and dont have time to be doing this like now, as i am also in to much pain from sitting here type out crap as you say.

I hope this crap is clearer.

Oh F/F sake, Blur blur blur! I never said i was a driving god! I am saying the car is being driven well enough to the it limit or its said it should be better then i expect from a car like this! and then a small A3 is beating it when it shouldnt.

Simply because you started off with a stupid thread title, an absolutley chuffingly hilarious egotistic explanation as to why you think the 3 series as a whole is crap, and then go on to blindly stick your fingers in your ears when anyone dares to challenge you.

Before you start running around moaning about everything, I suggest that you get your arse down the BMW garage and poke them.

Its people like you who moan and moan who create these chinese whispers - I was always taught that if you haven't anything good to sya, don't bother at all...

What on earth did you expect posting in a BMW specific forum!!!

Like I said, twonk!

I don't envy what you have gone through, however if I am to believe you correctly then you know how the trade works, and that you will get a lemon every so often. I've known people with crossers that just for no reason at all, were complete dogs.

So from that, again I repeat, you're welcome to your opinion, however I'd be careful before you go wading into a forum on BMW enthusiasts slagging off their choice of car, in very much the same way I wouldn't go wandering into an Arsenal pub, telling them they were tts for choosing Arsenal and they should try a bit of Manchester United instead...
