[quote=jellisonCool is he up for karting? Don't see him down. Mind don't they sound like Diesels from cold?
Looking forward to Gnostic (my Niehbour now talking about getting a few year old M3. More full on than the 330 conv he has (nice, but you know really for the Surrey tennis set)!

Yeah they do sound like diesels from cold, but sound superb when running warm and under load.
I was actually referring to your TVR that shock cafe rouge, it sounded great....it even makes up for the fact that its pink!

I forgot though - HE DID OWN the ROAD.
Well he was in the BMW lane, so not too far from the truth...Would have fun seeing his mug as I shot off!
To be fair, if he was any kind of petrol head and saw some grinning loon in a purple TVR soliciting a duel he could probably quite quickly figure you were packing.
Sounds like a sensible chap to me. He's gone home happy, you've gone home frustrated!

I know how it would have turn out but the fun bit would have been him nailing it an thinking it would have been in his favour.
Not a Petrolhead. A waste.

I totally blitzed a Porsche on the M4 the other day; now why didn't I think of going into the Porsche forums and mentioning it...? Because it would be as stupid as me going into one of the TVR forums and saying I 'nearly' had a race with a TVR today!

Dunno yet - have put down as a TBC as not sure on summer hols yet... and only if all the thin guys manage to put on 2-3 stone too!
I would have gunned it no matter what I was driving, not so much to try and beat you, but for the need to hear your car gunning it. Hopefully he was running it in, or the engine was still cold.
I agree, it is a shame when a nice car gets into the hands of someone with the desire to own one for the qudos rather than the enjoyment.
I've gunned my cars for novas in the past, if the guy gives me the lets go for it wink, and the road is safe to do so. Its not a race so much as a demonsration of the car for a fellow enthusiast.

My thoughts - better put than I could have though. I agree, it is a shame when a nice car gets into the hands of someone with the desire to own one for the qudos rather than the enjoyment.

Perhaps he already has nine points on his license from racing people in Tvrs and Porsches and wants to keep it so that he can keep driving his M5? considering you were doing 85 - 90 anyway?
Or perhaps he likes to keep it under the 100mph and has an M5 for the acceleration/ comfort mix?
Or perhaps he had a long day and just wanted to get home?
Or perhaps he was low on fuel?
Or perhaps it wasn't his?
Or perhaps he knew that particular area is known for speed trapping?
Loads of reasons for it...

This is a tongue in cheek thread, and there are of course many many many reasons why he didn't gun the car.
But there is something inside me that thinks I have a nice bunch of cars because I am fortunate enough to own them. Many people aren't. A fast car is only a work of art because of the way its engineered to perform. The appreciation of a fast car is not to see it pootling down the road, but to watch it scream down a racetrack.
If someone requests a demo, I am happy to demonstrate, and I think in principle (all other pressures such as granny in the back, cold engine etc etc being equal), an enthusiast should perform for another enthusiast, regardless if one of them owns a maclaren, or a Nova.
