e46 yellow oil light - solution?....zero pennies.
Discussion
My oil warning light had been coming on each day for 10 seconds or so after starting the car each time, this has been going on for quite a while.
Adding this here - was a little vague - this happens with oil in to max not just on min. Thanks Muz for pointing my poor explanation..
3 days ago I happened to turn the engine off whilst this warning light was on. And it hasn't come back on after start up since.
The light comes on when min has been reached, so the sensor is still working... I wonder if this solves it for anyone else?
Same thing happened for me with passenger side bulb 'warning light'.... it just went off after a few days, that was 6 months ago.
Car is a 330c motorsport.

Er, top it up with oil.
Mine used to do that - yellow light means it's getting low, red light means put some oil in now or I'll seize...
They all use oil - I found using the best, fully synthetic oil I could find alleviated the problem....

Your fault is very common and one that my 330 has. Will try turning off whilst on.
This is apparently caused by doing an oil service with the ignition on first turn. It will stay on for 10 secs then go off. Recently got an oil service with Mobile 1, and it still happens. Should say though that it only happens whilst engine is cold.
BMW will not admit to this fault.

Gaz,
No sign of sticking calipers, wheels do not get hot either. It's all being done by the dealer because the last owner had the front discs replaced last year, since then I've taken it back to have the discs replaced 2 further times. I also had front bushes, new tyres and rear discs done too because the dealer would not except that the discs could be warped again! I asked them to look at the hubs and they say they are fine, but i'm not convinced by anything they do! I don't have any off street parking at the minute so it makes it very hard for me to check anything myself. The discs are fine at the moment but then the discs only went on a few hundred miles ago...
Let me know how you get on also
