So after a little deliberating over whether to get a slightly older 325i or newer 323i, I finally picked up my 'new' 328i last night - and very impressed with it so far.

One thing about it though was that it only came with one key and alarm fob. Can I source a new fob (for the standard BMW alarm) anywhere other than a stealer? And could a normal locksmith cut a new key, or again is it dealer only?

I had the same with mine.

I got my local BMW specialist to cut a key when I dropped it in for a service. They also said that they could get the fobs - but at around £90 a pop (assuming yours is the two button verison - one grey, one red?).

I got the key done, but passed on the fob for the time being.

The fob needs to be programmed, instructions are available off the web, but tbh from what I saw, may be easier to get your specialist to sort it.

Alarm is easy

Buy fob on ebay

unscrew alarm module

flick swith to learning mode - press red button on fob - switch back to activated
