Im picking up my 51 330d sport on sun and i cant wait. It has a lot of extras fitted to it, however it doesnt have the xenon lights. Are they easy to fit and how much would it cost to do it. Thanks.

Dont want to go down the Halfords route!. I didnt think it would be a major job, as its the same unit as all other E46 with xenons isnt it?

Not sure whther it can or can't be done. I do know by law though you have to have headlamp washer jets if you have Xenons.

Thats the thing though it does have the headlight washers so is it possible the previous owner took the xenons out?

I doubt it very much. If he'd had problems with them he only just fell off the warranty.

You can have washers without xenons.

For expert advice on this sort of thing you're better off on e46fanatics.com.

They have to have automatic headlight leveling and thats a seperate unit which would mean if possible (I have always been told no) that it would be megga bucks as the loom would have to be changed aswell.

You can get a set from the scrappy or ebay and they;re a straight fit. You also need to get a dealer to recode the LCM (light control module).
Quite a few people have done this - google for more information.

I fitted Xenons to my 2002 330d as per the guide above. Very easy to do.

To all above, note that the 330d Sport will have washers and headlamp leveling as standard.

Not automatic headlight leveling it doesn't?
It has a switch to do it manually next to the headlight switch like every other non xenon E46.

Pretty much what I did (though the required butchery was a bit different on the E39), but used OE Ballast obtained from German Ebay for abt 50 quid a each

Liam - probably worth getting in touch with Ben at chromeline design. All the e36 guys swear by his retrofit HID kits.

This is something that has baffled me - the headlights in the e46 do self level (you can see/hear them doing it when you first start the car), but they also have the manual adjustment.

You need the levers attached to the drivers side wishbone (and one on the back but can't remember what side it is on) for self levelling whilst driving along.
