i own a e36 328 sport with 18 inch csl alloys. but i also have the original 17 inch bbs split rims, the car came with 18's on it and i got the 17's in the deal when i bought the car, i am undecided what looks better original or csl????

any thoughts/opinions cheers

If the ride is ok on the 18's I'd stick with them. The BBS wheels look great but are such a pain to keep in good nick.

Deffo the standard BBS in my opinion ... standard is the way forward with these cars.

Personally I'd sell the 18's to fund a good re-furb on the BBS's if they aren't in top nick. cool

BBS's all the way anything else spoils the E36 Sports 'look' and makes it look chav IMHO

i reckon ill need to get 2 wheels refurbed, and ill need 4 new tyres, but selling the 18's which have brand new dunlop rubber on them should free up some cash, i also just recently removed my air restrictor from the air box (good call by the way) but have an induction kit ready to fit, will this spoil the straight 6 growl?????

nice one ill go ahead with the induction kit, i am also worried about the dreaded nikasil problem, i have read about checking the rear of the block too look for a pear shaped metal plate, this only appears in the steel blocks but i cannot see/find what they are talking about, car has done 77000k and seems to run fine. any one know where exactly to look cheers

BBS!

Stick with the original/classic BMW type wheels from that cars era. The e46 wheels just look too modern for that car and I feel that it devalues the smart looks of the e36 sport.

If you fancy a change try the Alpina wheels from that era or the BMW multispoke wheel (like an Alpina).
Just my opinion of course.

How about some pics of it with those CSL wheels though....am interested to see it though!

Spot on.

Definitely go for BBS - the only e36's sporting any class these days are the ones still on the original BBS'.

i am new too this and cant seem to upload photos?? how do i go about it. and although i am pretty sure i'll be putting the BBS wheels back on the car, it doesn't look as bad as most bmw's with aftermarket alloys,

hi All.
I strongly feel that the 328i sport should keep its original bbs.
Caboosemoose, your motor looks fine with them wheels and they really suit it as a non sport. a "sport" loses all of its class and appeal once the standard wheels have gone,A good original looking "sport" has a real presence to it and they are getting rare now so if you are able to keep it looking as clean and original as you can then go for it fella.

Absolutley stunning car, im surprised you've left it looking pretty much standard, what surprises me more is that despite it being standard, it looks totally gorgeous. Kudos for staying true to the cars original form smile

This is e36 porn!!

Lovely cars, the black one and the blue one.

The silver one is nice but that rim seems a little 'flat' compared with the BBS.

i agree there caboosemoose and if i went for an aftermarket wheel then it would probably be the LM`s.

Upload your pics to somewhere like Photobucket, then paste the link into a reply to this topic.

Should be something like [pic] FILE NAME OF PHOTO [/pic]
