Thanks very much, Steve smile Will have to get the tape measure out but gut feeling says the car is a bit on the wide side for my mere space. Wish us luck!

Cheers,

Steve

The width is not usually the problem as they are actually not that wide compared to other cars I've had in the garage ... they are however bloody long yes

Try & get one with Csi mirrors, much more stylish /dont stick out so far.

OK, chaps. Will keep you informed but just to illustrate how tight my current garage is, here's a pic of my previous Boxster snuggled up inside:

I have managed to get a current shape CLK in there and I could just get out of that through the door, so I live in hope!

Anyone know anything about the Avus blue 840 Sport that Sprint has advertised in the classifieds? God, it looks lush...

Steve

That width quoted above is almost certainly without the mirrors. I'll try to find dimensions inclusive of mirrors, but might not manage to find it. Will keep you posted.

I think you'll get it in OK.
Looks very similar to the space in mine with the 996.
And, yes the CSi mirrors are fab, BUT, that's part of the problem with garage access, they don't fold!

Extrapolating from a sectional view of the 8 series, the width with mirrors is about 2020 mm, give or take a few mm either way.

Job38 - that's promising. Do you know how deep 8 series doors are? The 986/996 doors are quite 'thick' due to the shape as can be seen above which makes quite a bit of difference when entering/exiting. Will stick the E34 in at lunchtime to check length..

Ed - ok but less pies = more beers wink

Zak - many thanks, much appreciated smile

Need to get an on-line photo account such as www.photobucket.com  which is totally free.

You can load pics onto here and then they even give you the link for each pic so you can simply copy and paste.

The link will look something like
