SMGII is 80ms for a gear change (0.08 sec) - if the auto box is really that quick then I'm impressed. On mine it feels like the diff is going to come through the floor on upshifts in maximum attack mode, it is properly brutal.

Hey mogul, thanks for that explanation. How do you know if you have this system fited-are the paddles a give away because I assume they don't fit paddles to the normal auto then?

Also, do you mean that the engine revs between downshifts, ie blips the throttle (like the SMG does)or do you mean that the engine feels like it revs faster because of the sport settings?

Defo worth £70. Suprised it is that cheap really....

If you have SAT you'll have paddles.

It was only available from June 07 build onwards and I think by complete chance I took delivery of the first one in the country and didn't really understand what I'd ordered.

The way the rev counter moves is quite remarkable. When you consider this is a diesel engine, I was unaware these engines could respond and change as quickly as it does.

No major issues apart from I occasionally get a thump in the back going from 4th to 5th. The other gear changes are always smooth, so I'll mention this when it gets its first service in a month or two (12,000 miles since end of June so far!)

The cost is only really a give away for the 535d as it's quite expensive for any other model with a smaller engine. Still worthwhile IMO.
