Hello

I posted this on bmwland.co.uk but didn't get an answer, does anyone know the solution?

"The right side headlight on my 2000 330 is playing up. When the engine is running and I turn the lighs on I hear a motor whir and both beams usually tilt up to light the road ahead. The right side headlamp is a being a bit temperamental and in the last few weeks has been getting stuck in the lowest position. Repeatedly twiddling the adjuster on the dashbard seems to fix it after a while. Any suggestions on the cause of the fault? Why do the lights start in such a low position and then move up to the angle set on the dashboard control?"

Thanks

they will be self levelling, the adjuster will be for the dimming of the illumination in the interior.

I don't know what's causing your problem, Tim, but the lights motor up and down, rather than staying at the original setting, presumably to avoid the motor/solenoids siezing.

You could try spraying with WD40 and if that fails, try to clean up the connectors.

Jamoor there are 2 controls on the dash in my car. One controls the speedo/tacho illumination level, the other controls the angle of the dipped beam

Bor, someone at work suggsted the same. He said the motor is probably under the reflector case somewhere so I'll take it out at the weekend and apply wd-40. Also I've noticed that the problem only occurs when wet so I guess the increase in friction on a corroded component is a possible explanation.
