Hi Mondial, welcome to the 8 Series club, especially to one so young!wavey

Check out this link, this is the 840 run by BMW Magazine following a trip to a place called Torqueflow for some new pipework.

Sounds terrific.

Wonder what they could do to a CSi ?

thanks for ur advice Talkwrench, appreciated smile

Im going to have the engine mounts checked out with it goes into my local 8 series nut techy for brake fluid replacement and belts session.

any known downsides to removing the central resonators in the exhaust system?

I am having no luck tracking a 8series OBC down, anyone know if its a unit common with another model? (apparantly not the identical looking unit from an E36!)

In fact it seems nigh on impossible to find an 8 series in a breakers, perhaps they are cared for more than other BM's!

They are unique to the e31's but appear occasionally. I'll keep my eyes open for one. I may well find one to repair and keep a replacement unit in stock for people such as yourself.
No downside to centre resonator removal. It adds a nice rich tone to the system!

Keep a regular eye on eBay as there are people breaking 8 series quite often.
On the BMW car club I'm a member I think its worth while as it not only gives you the monthly mag subscription but it also gives you access to BMW parts which are located at different dealerships and sometimes you can grab a serious bargain or two.

HOW!?...Wish I'd heard of this before!

How do I do that?

I know it happens. I get along well with my local dealer parts dept. and they have called me on occasions to ask if I am interested in an e31 part that has appeared on a 'sell off' list, even at other branches in the UK. The latest 850 I've been rebuilding benefitted from a set of new CSi roll bars from just such a list.

Log in using your surname and membership number, then click on parts finder and select appropriate model, simple as that smile

Hi guys,

Thanks for the breakers info.

I have another issue i meant to ask about b4.

Wipers.

My passenger side wiper is missing a section of my windscreen, so went to buy the replacement Bosche part, it also misses the same area of the screen, literally the bottom part of the blade sits proud of the windscreen, yet is fitted as per the insructions and correctly.

are there certain BMW wipers, or might my arm (which looks absolutly fine, not bent incorrectly) be out of sync?

I had this issue, I found the only ones to work correctly are the BMW ones.

Was it here or somewhere else that I read today that keeping the batteries charged by means of a trickle charger connected via the under-bonnet terminals is actually only charging one of the batteries?!

So how do you keep the other one charged?

Definitely not the case! The under bonnet terminals will charge both batteries. All my 850's are tendered this way and I have, in the past, charged both batteries simultaneously from completely flat using these terminals.

Strange to change the expensive and slower wearing lower arms and not the 'consumable' upper arms. Are you sure it was the aluminium ones that were replaced?
Also, look at the steering idler arm. A common and often forgotten place to find wear in the steering and very cheap and easy to swap. Wear anywhere in the linkage can promote steering shimmy. e31's are very sensitive indeed. Is it induced particularly when braking from speed?
