Steve your 8 series looks fabulous !
What is the badge on the back by the way ? I cant quite make it out in your first picture.
Hello Mr dibbly, ThanksThat Badge!!I wish I had taken £1 for every time that question is asked, I would be in a 911 now?, It's a badge from an Audi S8 which seemed very apt once the car was modified via a Vortech Supercharger providing 405BHP & 450 lbs TorqueWhat is the badge on the back by the way ? I cant quite make it out in your first picture.
S8 = Supercharged 8

Gorgeous looking car, and i love that front wing vent S8 = Supercharged 8
But what does the badge actually say? It looks like S or B 5.6
And I'm hoping to have mine, well, end of the year would be nice but it depends how much mulled wine and snowballs Mr Talkwrench has between now and then!

I love these cars.
How much exactly do they cost to run?
I guess they're going to be quite thirsty, but are they reliable enough to be used daily.
I also guess serving can be done at a BMW specialist a bit cheaper than a main dealer?
Looking for a new car at the moment & this could come into the mix.

Alex,
They're not too thristy on a decent run...close to 30 mpg for the 840 with gentle use... 'normal' 850 probably a bit less but not too far behind, I think? Others will confirm.
Stop/start consumption probably a lot worse ( I don't have a lot of experience in mine of that) as they're very heavy cars to get off the mark.
I guess it's all really dependent on how and where they're being driven.
A good Indy should be able to service at reasonable cost. Apart from the CSi the engines are standard engines fitted to other models in the 7 and 5 Series range...so nothing special or unusual there.
Many other parts shared across the range of 7ers and 5ers.
Other consumables can be had at reasonable cost if you shop around a bit.
Some model specific parts can be either very expensive from the dealer (as they have you over a bit of a barrel) or difficult to obtain secondhand.
Very high build quality...Don't buy a 'dog'.

those 20" Alpinas look the nuts btw Steve. Didnt realise you'd also changed the rear calipers as well. Are they the ones that were on the front by any chance prior to the AP big pots ? Or brand new ? Either way, a great improvement on the stock rear calipers.
Mine's in for a partial respray this week and full buff, once they have chipped all the ice off it anyway....
That will be 2007's final deposit into the e31 money pit, though 2008 will most likely follow in the same vein

Hello Chester... (J.C ??? by any chance?)
That is correct, although it is more like that I attend an 8 meet, and then have random shots of my person posted in the forum. Fortunately they were taken down independently by the mods, and I didnt save them, so hopefully lost forever...
So since the site has gone down I am having reconstructive facial surgery and will continue to operate unlikely missions for the greater good of the e31 community.
