the first modification will likely be a straight through twin exhaust (wheel barrow style like the 340i, keeping an OEM look). No idea why this was changed with the F30/1 for the 335d but a bit of a shame they didn't keep that look for the diesel.
I've always thought the same and think the 335d should have the same set up as the 340i, I presume the xdrive has something to do with it maybe, I've not seen that colour before and that does look nice. ATM said:

It's averaging 20.4. This is made up of 75% cruising and 25% pushing on. I've now officially renamed petrol fun juice. I'm not looking at range or mpg anymore, just the needle. When it's empty I'll fill it with premium and deal with it. I just need to keep the commute miles off as much as poss to hold the value.
It's the performance and, IMO, as much the sound and visceral feedback, you feel the engine. It's high frequency, zingy and intoxicating. How the engine note changes in pitch and volume too. Not ashamed to say it gives me goosebumps when pinning it in second!
Interesting to see that my mpg is almost identical to yours, though it does depend on the traffic. It's so far averaged around 20.5 for most fills, but on one of the tanks it managed just 18.5 mpg. I used Carly to code the fuel warning to ping when there's less fuel left, since it was coming on with 67 miles to go.It's the performance and, IMO, as much the sound and visceral feedback, you feel the engine. I can totally concur with the sound and visceral feedback. Even just pressing on around 3-4.5k rpm it sounds beautiful and makes driving pleasurable again without having to go completely mad. Mine's on slightly worn Michelin PSS at the rear and it's laughably tail happy, which makes things fun too. My M135i was never like this, despite having allegedly 330 lbs ft torque.
I don't get the time to drive it for fun though, it's all commuting for me. After my 5 door M135i, I'm finding that getting my 10 month old into the back of the car is tricky, but doable. It's all worth it though.

Did you consider a 4 door?
Briefly, but I really wanted a coupe with the CF roof, so went with my heart. I concluded that given how long I'll own the car vs how long my son will be in a rear-facing baby seat, it's worth going for the coupe. I made the mistake about 4 years ago of buying cars based on what I'll need for the kids and I didn't enjoy either of them, so this time I went more with my heart. My 4 yr old calls it the best car in the world and says it has a racing engine. E34s on M Parallels are just pure smut. Serious want.
Now, if you must LS-swap a BMW (and I can see the attractions), may I suggest this? All the advantages of the LS with none of the downsides... quad-cam, getting on for 800hp N/A! http://www.mercuryracing.com/mercury-racing-reveal...

Thanks. Its on Suplex springs and Bilstein B4 dampers, which are supposed to be m-sport equivalent, but better/stronger springs and dampers a slight improvement on the standard items.
Its also had poly bushes to f&r anti-roll bars, new Meyle HD drop-links and a proper fast-road alignment at a respected motorsport place.
Made a big, big difference to the drive and pleased with the results!
