i can vouch to driving in this car for very long periods, its much much more comfortable than my z4m bucket seats, and the lights look alot better in real life, just wondering what do the stock items look like?? i actually wasnt aware phil had fitted modded ones?? whats the difference?

Cheers mate

How did you get insured on your blown Z? Looks like a weapon!

I have heard that folk struggle to get insurance on the supersharged conversions. I had thought about one for my E92, but my insurance is bad enough already!
Its insured via my business...... Supercharging an ///m car puts them into top end ferrari type grouping.

another update on this thread for me, just finshed the second stage of my ESS kit, now @ 507bhp, excuse writing under pics, i just copied and pasted from my build thread...... hope you all enjoy.....

the front oil cooler and intercooler, oil cooler is about double the size of the stock unit

the offending leaky part, i torqued this as tight as i dared, new orings installed, note ALL this i relocated from stock, looks perfect

im a stickler for detail, i cut down some rubbed to make a buffer for the oilcooler in the extremes of braking acceration.

setrab oil cooler

underside is CLEAN!!!! Note all boost pipes are crackle finish lightweight material....

conversion piece where the leak was/ hoping isnt anymore

mean

getting their now :-)

cleaned and blacked the undertray

looking good underneath

ess billet crank pulleys

up top

cleaning wheel well with oil splatter

intercooler can flow 700hp

insanely expensive gauges and pod, 3d design pod with stack pro stepper gauges and stack wideband,i blew my budget here, o.e look, fit and i can monitor whats happening with my motor, note where ive located power socket :-)

finally......

Looking wonderful as always, loving the work. Are you going for concours or just very clean?

Also, are you a member of the BMW Car Club? If not I think your project would make a great write-up in the club magazine.
hi funbus, ive owned the car from baby fresh in 2007 so as its only owner, its one of three vehicles so only see's summer weekend use so its just always clean, the car does however do the concours classes but believe it or not the car see's around 10 track days a year, i will compete with the car in my local sprint championship next year also, its get used properly but is very loved as you can see, i enjoy cleaning it as much as driving it.... sad but true.
My time in the garage with this beauty is therapy for a stressful job, funily enough i spent another 5 hours cleaning it today :-/

im not a member of the BMW club but will be doing so soon. thanks for the comments.

Byron, I'd like to congratulate you on a work of rare brilliance.

The installation appears to be a credit to you whilst the quality of kit is suitably subtle to render it quite the sleeper; as much as a Z4M can be such a thing.

Quite what this is like to drive, I can barely imagine.

Utterly, utterly superb.

clap
wow thanx derestrictor, absolutly love your comments, its truely my love of labour, The install of this kit has been VERY long, lol, infact ive removed, moved, changed, added parts, modified parts to Get 100% Perfect fitment, stock like fitment, i would simply except no less, even cooler their is not a single hole added to the vehicle that wasnt there from the factory.... i am quite simply the worlds most difficult customer.... lol again thankyou so much for the comments, i genuinely appreciate it :-) If you ever catch me @ a trackday come over for a run out :-) the car is what can only be described as bonkers :-) ESS tuning the kit manufacturers are nothing short of artists, the way this thing drives is unbelievable and the quality oozes from every detail of this kit, never mind the speed, the driveability/low speed manners is Better than it ever was stock with the added Tq.......

thankyou again :-)

byron

Funnily enough, it's what restored my love a bit! I was quite happy with the A1 until this came along. I just couldn't help myself.

It's hard getting used to such an old and rattly car though, compared with a brand new A1.
its shouldnt be rattly really, they are only 4 odd years old ;-) mine is rock steady and quiet as my TTs.... ;-) then again its only done 10k miles all in my ownership so i guess that helps, but i wouldnt expect it to be a rattle box
