Look at the competition to the E46 M3 at the time, none of them have stood the test of time in terms of styling both inside and out really!

Beautiful. What's it like in the bends? I have coupe and cabriolet (pics earlier in the thread). Sadly neither M3 but the difference in the way they drive is remarkable. cab seems best for elbow on door cruising

Don't know what they are like in non M3 configuration, but both are obviously a bit different,m but not hugely, not enough to call remarkable. Both have stiff suspension and low profile sticky tyres as well as wider tracks and various other changes to the non M models. The M3 coupe is tighter, sharper and just feels more precise. The convertible has some scuttle over rough roads, but on even surfaces and bends it's still well planted and gives sharp handling, just not as surgical as the coupe. It's worth noting that if you're comparing the two, then a few major factors will account for any differences that seem a bit too favourable toward one or the other. Tired bushes and other suspension components will affect the handling feel considerably!

They were introduced in 2000 so 16 years ago and will have been designed a few years before that given that the base e46 was launched in 1998 so as an idea/design project probably nearer 20 years old.

Yes, proves my point - I'm definitely getting old! To me pre-modern Beemers are the ones you cross your fingers won't rust - e.g. E30 and E28 etc.

Cheers - It is Imola Red...seems to work quite well being a deeper/richer red as opposed to a bright ferrari red
