The 760 V12, wow! Didn't know BMW did a V12... amazing. :thumbsup:

Just got my first petrol car so made it a good one; e92 M3 manual in Interlagos Blue with only 34k on the clock. Original mint condition bar a couple aesthetic tweaks to the grille and puddle lights I intend to change back to original. Customise your hair/clothes, leave M cars alone I say, they are future classics.

The interlagos blue looks very different in bright, sunny or artificial light to what it does in dull or overcast conditions. Deep royal blue in the former, almost indigo in the latter. Pictures just can't portray it's impact in the flesh, even with the latest camera phone on the S8 (which is pretty good for colour reproduction). It's the way the reflections in the metal in the paint move when you see it in the flesh that a picture can't convey I think. High resolution human experience trumps any level of digital image resolution.

Picked her up Monday and straight in for some Ultimate;

Been in for fuel three times since, £100 to do first 350 miles biggrin Wouldn't change it for a thing, it might be half as efficient as the 3l diesel but it's twice as powerful and easily 4x the fun.

Now that is a car! Interesting what you say about the colour as I found the Le Mans blue on my M5 exactly the same in that it seemed to change depending on the ambient light.

My dodgy man maths works that out to be 17-18 mpg average, that's not bad when you consider the performance on offer IMO. biggrin

It's averaging 20.4. This is made up of 75% cruising and 25% pushing on. I've now officially renamed petrol fun juice. I'm not looking at range or mpg anymore, just the needle. When it's empty I'll fill it with premium and deal with it. I just need to keep the commute miles off as much as poss to hold the value.

It's the performance and, IMO, as much the sound and visceral feedback, you feel the engine. It's high frequency, zingy and intoxicating. How the engine note changes in pitch and volume too. Not ashamed to say it gives me goosebumps when pinning it in second!

Had a great lunchtime blast today between Broad Hinton and Marlborough;

Great technical section near the white horse, is up a steep up-hill (due south east) then the subsequent peak is followed by a long flowing downhill section where you can see a long way as you dance over the crests without worrying about oncoming cars.

That M3 is stunning.... A 'proper drivers car' in my book.

As winter is coming I figured some improved lighting might be in order.

It's there for a purpose and I wouldn't be keen on entering the Autumn Road Rally here without it. That said, I like the look of period rally cars anyway.

MAF completely died in the middle of the M27 during an overtake after exiting a sliproad.

It was not amusing!

Totally agree... and been under the classic radar for some time now..? I have a low milage which I've owned for several years now and defiantly a keeper..!
They may come above the classic radar next year with the release of the new 8 series! Although I remember the £5k examples only a few years ago, how things have changed!
