The only reaction I am seeking is one from Munich in recognition of how badly wrong their design direction has gone. You really don't seem to like bmw. We're you bullied at school and the kids say drove one? What sort of car do you drive just out of interest?
Interesting that rover seems to think the best way to get a reaction from bmw is by trolling pistonheads ?

Personally i think Munich couldn't give a fk what some random bloke on the net thinks but surely he'd be better emailing the ceo of bmw ?
Yea it strikes me as very bizarre behaviour. Must be some sort of weirdo

My 02 as it sits currently, going with a conversion to 16V and ITB's. Aiming for 180+ bhp, 5 speed and LSD.

I think he's a few bob short tbh.

From here.... https://www.press.bmwgroup.com/global/article/deta...

Munich. BMW Group sales continue to grow steadily, with deliveries of premium BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce vehicles increasing by 0.7% in April. The month saw a total of 196,179 BMW Group vehicles delivered to customers, bringing the total for the year-to-date to 801,520 / +0.2%. This positive result was achieved despite the downward trend in many markets around the world.

“This positive sales result, achieved in a challenging environment, shows that with our ongoing model rollout, we are attracting new customers to our core brand and making steady progress towards achieving our goal of increased sales in 2019,” said Pieter Nota, Member of the BMW AG Board of Management responsible for Customer, Brands and Sales. “Demand for the BMW X7 has exceeded our expectations and has helped overall sales of our BMW X vehicles grow by over 20% in April. The model changeover of the BMW 3 Series is proceeding as planned and in markets where the seventh generation is already available, customers are responding very positively to the new model,” Nota continued.

Too stupid to do even the most basic research.

Love the 7. We've had a G12 for 2 or 3 years now. Don't drive it as much as I should but a lovely place to be when I do. Handling is great too, considering its size. Even figured out the gesture control now

Whether BMW design has lost its way or not isn't the issue though is it? It's the fact that you appear to enjoy slating peoples cars on a thread where, for the most part, are proud of and enjoying their car(s). If memory serves, you have a thing for E39 5 series? Personally I think they're big old barges but I wouldn't feel the need to come on here and put you down for choosing to waft about in something so bland.
I've got three E39s (two 2001 Tourings and a 1998 saloon) plus an E66 760Li (late 2005 facelift model). The 7 really is a big old barge, though a remarkably sharp steer for a 2.2 ton beast, but the E39s are smaller externally than today's 3-series. What the E39 is, however, is BMW's prettiest mass-produced car - and that's an opinion you will find shared very widely, including amongst automotive YouTubers barely older than the E39 itself. I don't really like my E66's looks - it's OK, but no better - but I do like the way it drives and the way it will swallow miles with four or five big blokes and a boot full of heavy longswords (don't ask!) on board. The Bangle era was definitely where it started to go wrong, although I like the Z4 and the E60 in M Sport trim, but now every single car BMW makes is a horror, and the journos are openly ridiculing BMW's design direction. That isn't a good thing for BMW, and they cannot weather this as they weathered the Bangle controversy. Mercedes-Benz aren't making badly-built blobs now like they were in 2005. BMW survived then because there was no credible alternative and car sales overall was booming. Now, the market is contracting and BMW is losing its share thereof... the cars look awful and they don't drive as well as they used to either.

I had an e39 saloon when I bought my e61 estate. I like the e39 saloon shape but dislike the e39 estate. I also like the e60 saloon shape but I wanted an estate. This is my first estate. Estates are so much more useful than crappy saloon boots especially when BMW insists on making fold down seats an option on saloons which is seldom chosen. Its standard on estates. Anyway the e61 shape is growing on me now. I've had all sorts in the back even an America Fridge. I had to have the front seats so far forward I could only just get in and out.

Which is why I have two E39 Tourings. So useful. Bigger boot than the F11 too. The reason the saloon doesn't usually have folding rear seats is that they put a steel firewall in for safety/rigidity reasons, so speccing folding rear seats meant changing the shell. I'm not sure why anyone would want folding seats in a saloon anyway... why wouldn't you just buy the Touring? I have found that the E39 saloon's boot is quite enough for most purposes, and when I need to haul furniture, appliances etc, I have the Tourings

Yes they go quite well for a big beast, adaptive mode is good as well as it shuffles through the eco/comfort/sport settings depending on your driving and works with the sat nav to set the car up for corners etc..

That's really nice. Get rid of that secondary air pump (in the above picture, circular thing to the left of the engine as you look at it), plenty of DIY's online.
I think you can also do the 330i manifold mod to these; I remember buying one for my brother's 328i with the same M52TUB28 engine as yours, but he sold the car before fitting it. You need the manifold, DISA valve and the throttle body adapter plate.

Not quite accurate - It isn't smaller in 2 out of 3 dimensions. Here's the figures:
E39 v G20 (current 3 series)
L: 4.775m v 4.709m - G20 is shorter than the E39 by 66mm (standard spec)
W: 1.800 v 1.827 - E39 is narrower than the G20 by 27mm
H: 1.445m v 1.442m - G20 is lower than the E39 by 3mm (standard suspension)

Picked this up yesterday, Its a Spanish 525i Touring.

Mechanically pretty good, but filthy inside and needs a proper clean. Not bad for £550

Bargain. Just what I'm after if anyone else has a similarly priced touring up for grabs?
